2015 Draft - Quarterbacks
I'm looking at the top 5 on this site and I dont see anyone I like.
I dont know that we can draft a blue chip QB next year. :confused?: NFL Draft - 2015 NFL Draft Prospects - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com |
Re: 2015 Draft - Quarterbacks
Unless you plan on drafting Jameis Winston in the first round, there isn't a QB I like in the first round.
|
Re: 2015 Draft - Quarterbacks
bad year for QBs, good year for Oline and Dlines.
|
Re: 2015 Draft - Quarterbacks
Leonard Williams DE, USC and Andrus Peat OT, Stanford

What do you think about the safety for Alabama, Collins? |

Terrible in coverage, if you pair him with a good covering FS, he will be fine, or if you play him close to the line at SS he will be awesome, if he needs to cover you are in trouble. |

I wouldnt put it past DS to fall in love with Winston and have the Skins draft him. |
Re: 2015 Draft - Quarterbacks
I don't think you rule out Mariota. But we also have to understand that RG3's contract is guaranteed next year. He'll definitely be on the team.
As bad as he's been we shouldn't completely write him off. Then again if we get a shot to draft Mariota we might have to take it. |
Re: 2015 Draft - Quarterbacks
I would really hope we go bpa between the Oline or Dline. Maybe if there would be a cant miss rushing olb, with the 1st pick.

Yeah trenches first and foremost. All depends where we're picking, of course. The way things are going I could see us #2 again. Or Jay could put Colt in and we end up at #10. Too early to talk draft meaningfully. |
Re: 2015 Draft - Quarterbacks
I wouldnt mind if we become the fleecer for someone moving up to take Jamies or Marriotta.

The best data I have seen for draft success is to accrue picks. If we have someone willing to trade up in the first round and we can get their first and second for it you have to do it. |
Re: 2015 Draft - Quarterbacks
I dunno with this FO, the best QB on the roster was a guy we didn't draft...
|
Re: 2015 Draft - Quarterbacks
I think you use the entire draft next year to address our deficiencies (other than QB). O-Line, Secondary, maybe some other D positions. You give this quarterback and this coach a chance to meet in the middle with upgrades at those horrific positions. If it works out, great. If it doesn't, you look for a new QB who will come into a better situation (i.e. a team with a hopefully better O-Line and Defense).

Re: 2015 Draft - Quarterbacks
So you guys want to continue with the same plan that has failed us for what, 2 decades?
Drafting a QB is not the solution to our woes. Building Offensive and Defensive lines are the only option. |

Don't over-think it. No BPA. Just do it! BTW, I'd like to say just one thing about a thread on drafting a QB: Yuck! Actually, make that two things: B-o-o-o-o-o! |

I'm all for that! But too much trading down is a trap. Shanny proved that by picking up a bunch of late round picks that weren't worth spit. |
Re: 2015 Draft - Quarterbacks
^ looking at the draft history I wouldn't consider the FO of the Skins to be QB draft happy. I think we have been rather poor in drafting overall. Of the 42 picks we have had since 2010 (5 years) 8 or roughly 20% have been o-line picks.

Re: 2015 Draft - Quarterbacks
RGIII is with us next year - just my guess - unless he simply sucks it up terribly in the next 5 games. If he shows any improvement, JG and RGIII become one during the offseason. Colt gets resigned, KC - have a nice day. If RGIII does not show significant steps in the first 6 games next year. Colt goes in as starter and we draft a QB 2016.
Who knows at this point? It's all just dust in the f'ing wind with this franchise. |
Re: 2015 Draft - Quarterbacks
Concerning the ability of our FO to find talent, I don't look any further back than the last draft and FA period. Before then, it was Shanny and you-know-who.
I think that Bruce Allen and his staff did a good job in the draft and FA. We added six starters, none of whom is likely to be replaced: Trent Murphy and Bashaud Breeland via the draft and DJax, Jason Hatcher, Shawn Lavau, and Tres Way. Morgan Moses and Spencer Long were developmental picks who could turn out well, Ryan Grant was a pleasant surprise who just needs to gain a little size and strength to become a valuable weapon, and we picked up a backup RB as a UDFA in Silas Redd. That's pretty darn good, IMO. What if we were to pick up 10 more good players next season with 6 of them becoming starters? Shouldn't we be even better? |
Re: 2015 Draft - Quarterbacks
After watching RGIII and Kaep imitate QB's yesterday, I will pass on Marcus and ever other Running QB...

No doubt. Success rate drops dramatically. Accrue late rounders by dumping underperforming (for the system) high salary guys that other teams still covet. Ravens do this, so do the Pats. |
Re: 2015 Draft - Quarterbacks
Any vet FA QBs on the radar? Agree about drafting the trenches.

Shanny traded #10 overall in 2011 to accumulate picks that I believe turned into Kerrigan at #16 overall, Hankerson in round 3, and Helu in round 4, but in the process, passed on the chance to select J.J. Watt or Robert Quinn. Regardless of who plays QB here next year, I hope that the FO puts special emphasis on upgrading the O-line. Williams and Lichtensteiger are the only legit starters on our O-line now.

Re: 2015 Draft - Quarterbacks
That offensive line needs to be addressed......center and both guards.....it probably won't take Spencer Long long to develop......but they should either play McCoy and draft a quarterback in 2016.
|
Re: 2015 Draft - Quarterbacks
No doubt it sucks to have to think about having to draft a QB, the last one isnt even paid for yet.
But I dont think the Redskins can afford to ignore the possibility of drafting one next year. |

Tennessee could move on from Jake Locker...id give him a look |
Re: 2015 Draft - Quarterbacks
If Winston didn't have character issues, it would be a no brainer. But since he does, and we have so many other needs, I say we have to pass. I don't think he raped anyone, but he's also kind of a knucklehead. How's he going to act when he gets money in his pocket? But his talent unquestioned, and it will be tough to pass on him, but I think we have to. I'm coming back with all three guys we have on the roster, improve the line and let them compete for the job.

He's terrible and can't stay healthy. No way. |
Re: 2015 Draft - Quarterbacks
i know it's a qb thread, but what college safeties are out there? Still want that to be our first round pick, assuming we end up in the 6 - 16 grouping.

Re: 2015 Draft - Quarterbacks
Christian Hackenburg QB in 2016. No QB this draft.

Have you listened to everything he's said to the media? If he's saying all this out loud, imagine what it's like behind closed doors. He's probably back next year because of the contract and price that was paid to get him. Cutting him is probably too much egg on the faces of the front office. He's not the day one starter in 2015. |

Brett Hundley says he is likely declaring for NFL draft
RG3 style? Brett Hundley, QB, UCLA, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com STRENGTHS: Looks the part with a tall, well-built frame and has the arm to unleash passes all over the field. Easy throwing motion with a strong, accurate arm. Noel Mazzone's offense asks him to make aggressive downfield throws and his quarterback shows the courage to attempt these passes even with defenders in close proximity to his targets. Quick set-up and release, and possesses the velocity and touch to make any throw. Even more impressive than Hundley's elusiveness and acceleration, however, is his vision and poise while buying time in the pocket. Hundley feels pressure well and is willing to step up and re-set while keeping his passing options open, critical for long-term success in the NFL. Hundley has the physical traits to explode as a dual-threat passer in the NFL, and the mental toughness so critical for success at the next level. WEAKNESSES: Takes virtually every snap from the shotgun and typically relies upon pre-snap reads in a relatively simple offense. Scouts want to see him operate better from the pocket, especially under duress. Has a tendency to drop his eyes and look to run in the face of pressure, even when able to elude the initial defender. Good, but not great straight-line speed in the mold of elite dual-threat QBs. Hundley's ball placement is a work-in-progress. Like most young quarterbacks, he needs to develop his anticipation as a passer and show better rhythm with his weapons, but he has the qualities that can't be coached. COMPARES TO: Randall Cunningham, ex-Eagles: Hundley possesses a combination of size, athleticism, grace and arm strength reminiscent of the former Pro Bowler Cunningham. |

Landon Collins is the top college safety, but his coverage ability is suspect. If you keep him around the line of scrimmage he is great, you have him cover you are in trouble. |
Re: 2015 Draft - Quarterbacks
Who 's available that has experience playing in the pocket and on a pro style offense? We know running QB's won't work, there needs to be a balance.

Here is my wishlist...
Cedric Ogbuehi OT Texas A&M Vic Beasley OLB Clemson Michael Bennett DT Ohio St. Kurtis Drummond S Michigan St. A.J. Cann OG South Carolina |
Re: 2015 Draft - Quarterbacks
I pretty much have zero hope for this current front office to put together a rock solid draft to help dramatically improve this team for the long run. We'd really need 2-3 drafts like that in a row, I don't see it happening.
|
Re: 2015 Draft - Quarterbacks
I agree matt, honestly I don't believe in Dan any more and I def don't believe in the players we have. Griff will be gone which is a shame that we spent 3 years hoping he would live up to that crazy draft and he just wont.
