Hey there everybody, Can anyone send me a copy of any games on DVD? I would be happy to reimburse you for the expense of burning the game and mailing etc. Or I could send you a new blank DVD or whatever

North Carolina or Northern California? If the first, then I bet you get stuck wtih Carolina Panther games all the time. That is one thing I like about living in Virginia - usually have no problem with seeing my beloved Redskins.

If I had to move far away from VA, I would have to get the NFL Sunday ticket thing.

I doubt Matty would want the risk but if we could set it up so you could "donate" some money to get game DVDs on your computer (which in turn you could burn yourself) it would completely fund the site.

I have at least 12 games from last year on VHS. Unfortunately, as of right now, I don't have a way to dub. I thought you guys knew I recorded the games. I thought we all recorded them. :oink:

Could you explain to me how that works? I have a Dell with a dvd burner and I get the Sunday ticket from Directv, what do I need to do and how much does the video capture card cost? I need details... Thanks

Video capture cards aren't very expensive depending on quality. As far as capturing satellite broadcasts, I'm not sure because I've heard that sometimes they encrypt the signal so that you can't read it. I have cable so it's no problem.

The card kind of works like TiVo, but the files take up a BUTT load of space. I've been taping Family Guy and then re-encoding it into DiVx, which seems to save on space. I hope you have a HUGE hard drive. You also might want to check with your satellite company to see if their broadcasts are encrypted.

Honestly, you'll run pretty tight against that with each game. I had to have an extra 400GB drive to hold the games because it takes a long time to re-encode. I'm not the foremost expert on how to do it, but the way I do it takes a long time. There might be a shorter way, but I don't know what that would be.

you can get on the fly hardware encoder, but they're pretty hefty (meant more for studios etc), it is a bit slow in software... divx encoding will take the files down to about 350mb/hour at dvd+ quality, and if you cut out the commercials, a game could fit on a normal cd...

Yeah. I'm going to work on encoding them to try and fit maybe a half to 1/3 of the season on DVD. It's a pain though cutting out commercials. This is going to take me a while.

the best thing to do would be to forget the computer and buy a stand alone dvd recorder and record the game directly to dvd as your watching it,theyre cheap now,I've seen them as low as 100 bucks on sale,if you dont have the proper video card they cost more than a dvd recorder,I think an ATI all in wonder 128 mg video card is about 200 bucks

You wouldn't need an ATI-All-in-One, but if you have the money, go with the hardware version.

i am getting a new computer and i kno very little about this stuff, it is a.. and i quote "Hewlett-Packard Photosmart Media Center Desktop with Intel® Pentium® D Processor 820

If anyone could tell me if this could do all that stuff it would be appreciated. the guy at the store told me being a media center it can copy and burn stuff that is copied. I can scedule recordings and stuff, but is 250GB enough to get a good number of games?

250gb is PLENTY for games. It's not a bad computer at all. I checked it out and you have a lot of processing power AND that sweet XP Media Center Edition.

Hey thanks, i hope to get this within the week, it seems perfect for my price range. I can't wait to start recording games and burning them. The only bad thing i heard about this is it doesn't have a good graphics card or something like that. I can buy one later right? but how much does that cost? No custimization on this like dells so i have to buy it the way it is and add on later.

Yeah, you can definitely buy a card later. Depending on whether you have AGP or PCI Express will determine just how good of a card you can get. Basically the sky is the limit on how much you can spend. I have a 200 dollar AGP card which is about the third best on the market (at this time).

After reading the review of that computer, the on-the-fly encoding sounds like its going to be pretty good. The quality might suffer a bit, but it will definitely be awesome.

Thanks, Best buy has a deal like a 15" screen, a printer and the modem for $1080, i am gonna upgrade the screen to 17" for $50 and try to get a warranty and that will just about make me broke for about a year

hey thanks i will look at that, the modem is for 1000 flat and i will be paying 120 for the monitor and a crappy printer( i have a few) so an extra 100 for a nice monitor might be worth it, expecially while watching my Skin games.

Ditto, I have everygame on VHS from last year, however, I dont have a vhs to dvd burner to backup. Maybe I'll go to bestbuy and buy one for 2 days then return it saying I didnt like it. I'll check it out if I would be able to get a cash refund, screw store credit. If thats the case you would only need to send me money for shipping or rather we could meet at the Training Camp and exchange- maybe someone will let me sleep on their lawn during training camp week b/c hotel prices bring about the cheapness in me.

I found a guy who proclaims to have all of Al Suanders or rather the chiefs past 6 years on dvdr but he has not responded to my email (1day of waiting)
