No surprise, it’s about time. He can go to all the stripper clubs now.

Re: Haskins released
Dayuum!
Honestly, this probably would have happened last week if there was no division title to be won, or if they knew Heinicke offered the same if not more ability to get a W. Wish I was there on the call when Rivera told Danny of this decision. |
Re: Haskins released
Good riddance. Guess it means that Alex is likely fit enough for the Eagles game.

Re: Haskins released
Guess I'll have to choose someone else for my keeper league...

Re: Haskins released
Haskins 48.4 Passing grade was the lowest in the NFL this season

Re: Haskins released
Scott Van Pelt just broke down the overall Haskins scenario in Washington… I learned a little bit more than I knew a few hours ago but not a significant amount more… it sounds like the strip club issue seems to be the most serious issue
1. The owner stepped in and forced him to be drafted 2. Jay Gruden felt forced to play Haskins in an effort to save his job since Haskins was Snyder’s guy (Haskins was not ready yet for NFL reps) 3. Rivera gets hired and Haskins was never his guy 4. There was never an explanation for his demotion to 3rd string earlier this season (I just assume it was Rivera trying to motivate Haskins) 5. If Alex Smith was healthy the last 2 weeks he would’ve played instead of Haskins 6. While they’re in 1st place in division (and in COVID world) he went to the strip club following a loss instead of doing anything else football or in-home related 7. Lost captaincy following strip club 8. Left stadium immediately after game and avoided media questions until he got home… and even then he was barely “answering” questions and had extremely low energy (the kid just seems to be mentally defeated when seen on camera) |
Re: Haskins released
C'est la vie
Wish him the best On to Philly |

THIS is the punishment that should have been handed down by Rivera. And i guess in the end, it was. I think it is best for the team. |
Re: Haskins released
His rookie contract is fully guaranteed, 8Mil cap hit next year.

Got to be hard for Young, who publicly supported Haskins. Never sure why, as Young plays with aggression and heart and Haskins just played with himself. |

Bruce and Dan parting gift to the front office as another one of their choices at QB is an utter disaster. |
Re: Haskins released
For the record, it has been exactly 1,512 days since my last post. Although I have been lurking in the shadows, I've refrained from posting anything since November 17th, 2016.
I say that to say this, I'm happy. Bye Felicia, I didn't like the pick in the first place:) HTTR!! |

Anyway, glad RR is doing the right thing for this team, glad we have proof he has latitude to make this move, and glad there's now one less mingling temptation for Snyder. |

I wonder if Philly signs him to get intel on us.

Was wondering whether we could void his guarantees due to his fines.... otherwise big cap hit unless someone else claims him on waivers

Young was just being a team player. What else could he have said or done. |

Ron Rivera told Dwayne that his release benefits both parties. At this point, I can't imagine that there is a player in the locker room that is not on board with this decision, including Young. Young is a leader. I wouldn't expect anything less from him with regard to supporting all his teammates publicly. |

I'm pretty sure Chase was being diplomatic and supportive. Also, everyone knows the true QB leader is Alex. So not a big issue in my opinion. |
Re: Haskins released
Peace out loser. Hopefully he uses this as a learning opportunity. There's much more to playing QB in this league than posting videos of yourself tossing bombs, shirtless, in the summer to Antonio Brown.

Dude was given the most basic/trimmed down playbook to run and could barely get a grip on that.[/quote] That's not inaccurate. But Philly being Philly, I wouldn't be surprised if they did this just to troll us. Honestly, I never liked Haskins although I hoped for the best. He acted like a petulant child when drafted 15th, claiming "The league done messed up." He's not the first QB to feel he was drafted too low, but perhaps the least deserving of feeling that way given his limited number of college games (and soiling himself in arguably the biggest game against Purdue). Look at what Aaron Rodgers did. He was pissed he wasn't drafted higher, and he let that motivate him to slay it once, years after waiting behind Favre and further honing his craft, he got the chance to start. In other words, he bided his time and then made the most of his opportunity. The complete opposite approach to what Haskins did, who was vocal about not being lauded more out of the box, pouted when not played immediately, pouted again when benched, and otherwise acted like an idiot (selfie before the game ended v. Detroit last year, and two COVID violations this year). Good fucking riddance. Addition by subtraction. |

I'll also add to remove a distraction while the team is vying for a division title. I wish Haskins the best going forward. |
Re: Haskins released
I knew it was coming.....but I didn't expect them to get rid of him until after the NFL off-season started.....
|
Re: Haskins released
I'm glad this is over, now there won't be any more distraction and the team can 100% focus on the game this Sunday.
|
Re: Haskins released
This is culture change in action. Standards are a bitch sometimes, but they are the foundation of any legitimate organization.
Fucking love it. |
Re: Haskins released
Was it just me but I never saw Alex Smith sitting with Haskins and the QB coach yesterday. I know I saw them together at the Seahawk game but not yesterday.

Love the statement by Ron I forget the article when he was hired, but the incident where he told the Panther team come together as a team or get the fuck out the way. |
Re: Haskins released
What I also like about this move is the continuing reinforcement of the fact that Ron has absolute control over the team.
|
Re: Haskins released
Haskins cost the team yesterday by creating a distraction, he was given a chance to rectify the distraction, instead he played like he was distracted. So glad the distraction is gone. I could see Seattle/SF picking him up and try to rescue him.

Re: Haskins released
"The league done messed up" will live in infamy forever in Washington.
