No matter what we all think, the dude is a gamer and has that Swag! I’m fine with this move. Cheap deal and he’s a veteran that can win with this defense. |

I like the move ... still have all our draft capital.. now we need more O help .. WR anyone ??
|
Re: Fitzmagic Thread
I'm good with it.
Saves us from Trubisky. Or others that have been thoroughly discussed here. Draft a youngster, and let the QB room marinate. |
Re: Fitzmagic Thread
Signing a vet for 1 year actually is in line with franchising Scherff. Team is going for it this year. Darby is a blow, but we can draft someone. Not sure what free agency is looking like at CB.

Not in round 1. Need a LB at 19. |
Re: Fitzmagic Thread
Fitzpatrick and Heinicke on the same team sounds like a helluva lot of fun. I am a TH guy, but love what Fitzpatrick does on the field. How does this combo stack up against Haskins and Smith, I think pretty darned well.

Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
Fitz's beard plays QB and costs 8 million less. He wins, going away. |

Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
This post deserves some sort of medal. Fitzpatrick is the man, the myth, the legend. We gotta sign Curtis Samuel. Fitzmagic throwing to McLaurin, McKissic, Gibson, Thomas, Samuel, + whoever we draft = we're gonna have some real fun games. |
Re: Fitzmagic Thread
At worst, we know we have a QB with amazing swag that can win games.
And it "only" cost 10 million. For a QB, it's pretty cheap. But mainly, we didn't have to spend any draft picks, and we can let the board come to us. I definitely still hope we pick a QB, but doesn't matter what round now. This opens the draft board a bit imo. Fitzmagic and Heinicke or Allen plus a rookie, is sufficient for 2021. If a QB falls to 19, take him. But I'm against trading up now. We have holes that need to be filled. And there will be QB's next year. |
Re: Fitzmagic Thread
Love the move! Gives us some flexibility in the draft and FA. Saves us from drafting a QB at 19. Hopefully we’ll add a WR (Samuel), or TE (Henry)
|
Re: Fitzmagic Thread
Matthew Berry of ESPN is beyond pumped up for Fitzgerald.
He even low-key snuck in a comment about how dumb the name change is. #keepthegear It's a video that is part of this article: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/31073251/ryan-fitzpatrick-washington-football-team-agree-free-agent-deal-source-says |

I don't expect this to be the last move we make. But I understand why Ron went this route.

Re: Fitzmagic Thread
One word. Improvement.

Re: Fitzmagic Thread
Some WFT Twitter folks are mad, what else did they want them to do?? Sign Trubisky? F that. Fitz was the best FA available at QB period
|
Re: Fitzmagic Thread
Fitz is an established vet who knows how to play QB in the NFL. He's the perfect Rivera QB.

I see WFT Twitter daily and a lot of them are stupid and are going to be pissy regardless. This was the best possible outcome. If you give up picks for Darnold or pay Trubisky a big FA salary, they are going to be the guy (and they’re probably going to suck). With Fitz, he’s clearly not a long term solution. Team guy. Crazy smart. 9 teams. Seen it all. Will be able to adjust to a new team with a limited offseason without issue. Gives us the option to still draft a rookie high. If he stinks, Heinicke will get a shot and with Darnold or Trubisky, they probably would be left in regardless of what they did. I love this. Let’s go squad! Now let’s go get Curtis Samuel and complete the annex of Washington South. |
Re: Fitzmagic Thread
I don't like this move. JMO what QB's has he mentored that have gone on to be good and win consistently.

He's not there to mentor QBs, he's there to win games. He's an improvement from what WFT had at QB last year. |
Re: Fitzmagic Thread
I will say its better Mitch, but still I am a bit disappointed. Not so much its Fitz but the fact we really didn't check off that franchise QB box still. Been spinning wheels on that one for awhile now.

You mean forever now lol |
Re: Fitzmagic Thread
I'm surprised Miami let him walk. He was clearly better than Tua at this point. I'd much rather go this route over giving away tons of draft picks to get Watson. I would like to see Fitz and Taylor compete for the job. With those two we have guys that are the opposite of Smith. We are going to actually start throwing balls over 5 yards. I like the move.
It will be interesting to see if they draft anyone or just pass on QB and all together. |

That's my feeling towards it too |

How were they going to check that box? I think they realize none of the top college guys are going to be there when they pick. Ron isn't going to do some stupid RG3 trade. |

It ain't his job to be a mentor. These are grown ass men. |
Re: Fitzmagic Thread
We all would LOVE Watson but that was never going to happen... You would have to deal 3 first and CY or Sweat for him and then what's the point?
|

Yeah man I agree, there wasn't many options to check that box. The Watson dreaming got me hoping. |
Re: Fitzmagic Thread
Hienicke, Allen, Fitz > Derp Haskins, Allen, Smith
I’ll take it |
Re: Fitzmagic Thread
Fitz is WAY better than Haskins and Smith. He's the best passer we've had since Kirk
|
Re: Fitzmagic Thread
Love this move. We can compete in this division with RF.

Fitzpatrick is a grown ass man, you think these 21 year old college qb's who have never had a working job in their life and are introduced to wealth and fame in the span of 6 months don't need mentoring? LMAO. |
Re: Fitzmagic Thread
It ain't his job to be a mentor. These are grown ass men.
Even grown ass men can benefit from good mentoring. Not saying you bring someone in just for that reason, but as an extra effect definitely a plus.

12 Big Time Throws = Tight window where only the WR can catch it
14 Turnover worthy throws = Throwing into tight coverage where a defender can make a play on it. It's going to be a roller coaster lol |

Re: Fitzmagic Thread
I'm happy with this move.
1. He knows how to win and in his last year possibly, he'll be hungry. 2. Great cost:talent. Value move! 3. Plenty of cap room to build around him. 4. No need to trade up to get a QB. We can still draft one later if we see one we like for the future. 5. As mentioned, it saves us from the likes of Trubisky, Dalton, Mariota, Darnold. There's no "what if we can save this guy's career" angle with Fitz, we know exactly what he is and what we'll get. |
Re: Fitzmagic Thread
Who are we even expecting him to mentor? Allen? Heinicke? None of these guys are legit long term options as the starter.
Barring someone unexpectedly slipping to us in the draft I think our QB room is set. |
Re: Fitzmagic Thread
Here's what Tua said about him for those worried about his mentoring skills
Tagovailoa: "Fitz is just a wholesome person. The way he is out on the field is the same way he is off the field. I don't think there's really a distinct change in who he is. I mean, what you see out there is really who Fitz is. He's a coach. He's a mentor on and off the field. But he's also a very, very family-oriented person. Very loving. Very caring for guys. And he's funny, too. He's really funny."
|

Yep, he's had some amazing plays over the last few years. At the very least he'll bring excitement |
