Week 2 - the Rebound
Normally you wait 24 hours, but the game is on Thursday and Taylor Heinicke is starting!
Come on Taylor Nation rise up and defend our QB @Schultz_Report twitter [emoji599] Taylor Heineke will start in Week 2 as #WFT hosts the #Giants, per sources. Heineke replaced an injured Ryan Fitzpatrick yesterday, throwing for a touchdown and amassing a healthy 119.3 QB rating. Kyle Allen will be the No. 2. Our D better respond like wounded wolves and lash out at the Giants. I want to see mayhem reign when Daniel Jones is on the field. And Heinicke gets his shot to last more than one game health wise (looking at you Leno) WFT need to make this a statement about the division. But it may end in a whimper :( Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk |
Re: Week 2 - the Rebound
CODE RED GAME
No but if we start 0-2 it's gonna be a long season |
Re: Week 2 - the Rebound
This is a winnable game on paper more so than the Chargers game.
The D needs to bounce back in a big way and Chase better have at least one sack to make up for that turd he dooted out on Sunday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Week 2 - the Rebound
Somehow no matter how bad they look the week before, the Giants always seem to rally and be on top of their game for us. I'm expecting no different this Thurs.

Re: Week 2 - the Rebound
Not trying to be negative nancy here but didn't they sweep us last yr?

Lolol.

Re: Week 2 - the Rebound
Heinicke having to play this early in the season is a disaster. This is game 2 on the road to an 0-2 start.

I was not a big Tyler fan but in the small samples i have seen he is better then fitzmagic. |
Re: Week 2 - the Rebound
I suspect the offense will look better with Heinicke. He just needs to play smart and not try to be a hero.
|
Re: Week 2 - the Rebound
Count me in the camp of not being a big fan of Heinicke. Limited arm and history says he will get hurt sooner rather than later. I suspect we'll see Kyle Allen very soon. Losing your starting QB is always a tough thing to overcome.

I hear you but i don't think he is a huge downgrade from Fitz |
Re: Week 2 - the Rebound
His injury history is definitely concerning. It's hard not to label him injury prone. He does bring a different dynamic to the table with his mobility though. He just needs to be smart.

Re: Week 2 - the Rebound
We are at the point in history again where we need to make a big trade on a big time QB and just fingers cross it works. Until you fill that role you are spinning tires. Even with Fitzmagic we were gone be lucky to be .500; we are lucky enough to play in a shit division, that helps us the most.
The Watson offer is our best bet, even if he is banned half a season or whatever. I am not even sure they have anything on him; if they did he already be punished. I highly doubt he gets a lifetime ban. |

I don't think he is either, but I wish we got to see RF play and grow into this offense. |

He's huge downgrade. Fitz has is 16 year career in the NFL, I'm not saying he's spectacular but he has to be doing something right to have been around this long. Like a lot of fringe NFL QB's, Heinicke can come in and play a few good games but over the course of 17 games (assuming he doesn't get hurt) people will see why he was taking math class instead of playing professional football somewhere. |

Sure but fitz gets you to .500 maybe in a weak division; who cares. Being middle of the pack does nothing for future long term growth of this franchise. Have Tyler stink it up and find a great QB, then we can start rebuilding this bitch. |

Heinicke wasn't even a starter on his XFL team. He's a fun story and fun to watch so far. But him having sustained success and health over a full NFL season would be absolutely shocking to me. Sucks so bad for Fitz that he got hurt on such a garbage ass play by Leno. That was embarrassing. |

Fitz only gets us to .500? Lots of predictions had WFT winning the division and making a run in the playoffs. Fitz wasn't going to be around in five years, he's a short term solution who's a legit NFL QB. Now its rebuild this bitch? Makes no sense. |

Heinicke has been able to move the offense in each game. I don't really worry about the arm strength part. As for injuries, at this point our qbs all are injury prone. Multiple seasons with 3+ qbs , that is just crazy. My fear is that defenses will figure him out, but truthfully I don't know if he has figured himself out yet. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk |

You could win this division at .500 No one had us going 13 and 4 or some shit. IMO the offense was always still a work in progress and Fitz was a stop gap. Lets say Fitz id done for the year, do you really think he is coming back here next year? I think he is playing golf with Alex Smith and count their DS money. |

Re: Week 2 - the Rebound
I've been super torn and super back and forth on this, but I'm warming to the idea of Cam Newton. The BIGGEST problem I have with him is being a big distraction. He's got to have enough left (for now) to not waste a year of what it supposed to be a nasty defense.

RF had not generated much in way of sustained drives. TH got a FG before half, a TD with the first drive of the second half, got us to the 22 before Scherff's penalty, and then had AG fumble it. Those were good drives against a good defense. He did the same kind of thing against Tampa's defense. Both games our vaunted defense let the team down. The only way we get to see about his health is putting him in and letting him play. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk |

Cam is definitely not coming in. Ron has passed over him multiple times now, plus there's the vaccination issue. Not going to happen. |

TH will be making his 2nd regular season start on Thurs and in the grand scheme of things is still very unproven. He doesn't even have a resume worth comparing to anyone yet. He's a 28 year old rookie in terms of playing experience. Given our luck this should go great lol |
Re: Week 2 - the Rebound
If Leno is playing LT like that, let's move Cosmi there now. He was drafted to play LT, let's him play LT.
Let Leno, Charles, and Lucas compete at RT. Should have kept Moses. Cosmi, Flowers, Roullier, Scherff, Moses sounds pretty good right now. Note - I know Cosmi wasn't great yesterday but he was going against an absolute beast in Bosa. |

BUT his play in limited games seems to warrant giving him a shot. It can't be worse than last year.

Re: Week 2 - the Rebound
I'm not sure that the WFT defense is better than average. There are a lot of young players who can improve with experience, so it's possible the pieces are there for the unit to develop into something special in a few seasons. For now though, it can't carry the team to the playoffs (not with this year's schedule). Fitzpatrick is a decent fall back option for a team with an elite D and no QB, but that's not this team. So really, what's the point? Heinicke has proven himself to be a gamer, and it's not unheard of for a late-20s nobody to turn into an elite QB. Will that happen? Probably not, but he's exciting AF to watch. This is a mediocre team at best, so I'd rather they start the QB whose ceiling is as yet undetermined than the one who we all know is a veteran backup.

Stop it with your realistic expectations. I prefer to dig my head in the sand and think "no worries, an easy rebound game against a loser Gints squad is exactly what we need to wash the salty taste of defeat out of our mouths right now" |
Re: Week 2 - the Rebound
Next 3 games
NYG Bills Falcons That's 2 winnable games with avg qb play and 1 that takes a full team effort and likely a loss. IF TH can stay healthy and guide us to 2 wins that would be great. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk |
