Re: Rey Maualuga Enters Rehab
The kid's an alcoholic from the sounds of it. I hope he can stay on the wagon after rehab, both for his personal benefit and his career.

Re: Rey Maualuga Enters Rehab
Good for him and hopefully it will work out.

Re: Rey Maualuga Enters Rehab
Hope he gets straight, he's a talented young player.

Good look, he has lots of talent on the field.

Seriously talented. Between Rey, Cushing, and Clay Matthews, I definitely didn't think Rey would be the least productive of the three USC LBs as a rookie. Maybe when he dries out we'll really see him shine. It's gotta suck to suit up and play football on Sunday with a hangover. Riggo did it pretty well though. :) All the best, Rey. |
Re: Rey Maualuga Enters Rehab
I wish him well and hope he has success in his rehab. Obviously it has gone past the point of casual drinking and has brought serious consequences. With an alcoholic, there is victory in surrender. Hopefully he'll learn to let it go and find a more fulfilling life without it. He's been blessed with the talent to have a long rewarding career. Good luck Rey-Rey.

All the best, Rey.[/quote] I still consider him the most talented of the bunch, though it may not become apparent till he moves to the middle (assuming he commits to staying dry). |
Re: Rey Maualuga Enters Rehab
Rey's got a lot of growing up to do (on and off the field). His previous arrest at SC was kept on the down low b/c the team has that much pull- he was on greek row and some frat guy was talking smack to him. Rey totally clocked the guy and when people were yelling to get the cops, he ran off yelling "I own the police!"
Ask whoever watched SC football and they'd tell you this past year wasn't a surprise in how everything shook out for the three linebackers. Outsiders only watched youtube highlights before the combine when deciding Rey-Rey was the hype. |

Re: Rey Maualuga Enters Rehab
I had heard rumors that many NFL teams were worried about Cushing's personal issues and possible performance enhancing drung use. Still glad we got Orakpo though!!!

Yeah a buddy of mine who used to work on the Redskins training staff said he has firsthand knowledge that Cushing has been a juicer since high school. |
Re: Rey Maualuga Enters Rehab
We dodged a bullet not drafting him. We should worry about Rinehart though. We can't afford him not contributing somewhere on the OL because of off field trouble.

Uh, what domestic/personal issues? You mean accusations of steroid use that appeared during pre-draft workouts? Hardly issues discussed during his college tenure and predictably "investigated" when players are scrutinized most. Also, those accusations were quashed... just because he's big and fast doesn't mean he's juicing (gaining 60 pounds in four years of HS football aren't enough to say he's guilty, imo) - the dude's a workout warrior. The closest controversy Cush ever experienced at SC were injuries (and a dumb facebook prank he did with some other players). |
