30 years ago today...
The Redskins won SB XXVI over the Buffalo Bills 37-24 in dominating fashion, and little did we know then, it would be the pinnacle of this franchise.
Since then we've been mediocre at best, downright laughable a lot of the time, and a lightening rod for controversy and scandal. Thanks Dan! |
Re: 30 years ago today...
Selling to Dan Snyder is a top 5 decision in sports history that absolutely ruined a franchise. You couldn't do much worse if you tried to fail on purpose.

Re: 30 years ago today...
I was a freshman in college just loving life. So young and so naive as to what was to come lol

Re: 30 years ago today...
I was just starting my 2nd year of what would end up being a 22 year career in the Army, gallabanting around Germany, also loving life and equally as naive.
Tough to think about all the time, money, and support I have thrown this organization since then... |

Sounds like something I would write. ;) You are correct. I would say it was the most anticlimactic of the three Super Bowl wins. You just knew they were going to do it. It was great that Rypien earned the MVP, but I thought Wilbur Marshall had a strong claim. He was nuclear powered during that game. And it was indeed the last hurrah. Bobby Beathard had already departed. Coach Gibbs was soon to follow. The Squire passed away a few years later. And the team departed RFK. A series of ever greater disappointments that continue to this day. But I will leave it at that. Thanks for the reminder. Nice pick me up on a cold day. |

Hard to fathom that was 30 years ago. Harder to fathom what has happened since. Of all the people in the world to buy the team we got Captain Douche. [emoji1750]

Re: 30 years ago today...
What a great team that was. Perhaps one of the most complete SB winning teams ever.
I was in Georgetown that day and when the game was over it was just insane. Streets closed off, strangers hugging strangers. That was when this was purely a Redskin town. The group I was with, we went to the old Georgetown Library and partied until 4am. They kept it open cause no one wanted to go home. Incredible memories. |

He just blew up Buffalo's wr's all game long. |

This is soo true. 81-92 so disciplined tough and on and on football. The 3 Superbowl wins were nicely spaced out. I miss being spoiled by success. |
Re: 30 years ago today...
Every single thing about those teams was awesome. Our kicker was awesome. Our offense was a juggernaut. Our defense was nasty. Our gm was the best in the biz. Our hc. Our coordinators. Etc. our home field! My god. What a difference

Bobby B. Was in San Diego already, he left in 1990. Casserly was the GM. |

Actually I don't know any of them would be 15 yarders now. He mainly led with his shoulder. Great timing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBG3l64zAYg |
