Yes, it is a league matter whether or not charges are filed, ya know "to protect the integrity of the shield ..." and all that fake nobleness from goodell et al.
No, the league doesnt have to wait for him to plea or be found guilty. I think the league's investigation and discipline, if any, is independent of any law enforcement investigation and proceeding. But id prefer the league wait until criminal proceedings are finished ... unless its a Ray Caruth type situation.
Even if a player is ultimately found not guilty by law the league can still discipline. hardy was found guilty, appealed, paid victim off, charges dismissed on appeal .. still suspended 10 games or so.
Autograph - that doesnt bother me bc that could be done without the players knowledge or consent.
