I have no problem with politics in sport or sport in politics. Neither operates in a vacuum regarding the other. Over here we have a government department and minister for sport (and arts, media etc.).
But I do have a problem when politics exerts undue influence on sport for it's own purpose (not that of a wider benefit to society).
In this case it's his personal political opinion, and while I disagree with his views, I respect his right to hold those views. It has no bearing on his ability to play and as said, if the locker room can tolerate his political stance who are we to judge?
