That is like me saying, Oh well, my heart is not in my work today so I will just call in sick, or I will do a shitty job. Eventually, if I did that for a prolonged period of time I would most likely end up losing my job. Not good to hear that kind of talk from a rather handsomely paid RB in the NFL. "Oh my heart wasn't in it so I screwed around!!!" This ranks almost as bad as him defending Vick. Clinton should have just said it sucked getting hurt and he wants to come back full force. Saying his heart wasn't in it should worry you guys. A job is a job, and if you get paid nicely for it you should try your utmost to perform your best.

I think your preception of what CP was saying is a little off. I don't think he meant that he didn't want to play his best, I think he meant that after the injuries and the let down of being hurt (not just him) that he lost his drive for football. He is human and I feel good that he was honest about his feelings and where his head was then. Now maybe he can turn it around becuase he sees his mistake in letting himself get down about the game. A little humility goes a long way, and at least he can see it for what it was and learn from it.
