I don't see what the big problem is, JLC is simply calling it like he sees it. I'll agree there was slight improvement from Heyer in the second game over the first, but still -- he's only playing because the coaches obviously believe that they don't have anyone else who can play left tackle.
Also, think of the competition Heyer faces in practice compared to what he has to deal with from opposing teams. The Redskins haven't had a decent threat at the defensive end position since the days of Charles Mann and Fred Stokes. The level of speed rushers Heyer lines up against in exhibition play is light years ahead of anything the coaches can throw at him in practice.
And let's not forget: The Redskins are in this position because they crap on their draft picks in the first 4 rounds. Over the last 3 or 4 years, think of all the stockpiling they could have done preparing for the future and situations just like this?
