Adam Caplan, of Scout.com, reports the Tennessee Titans are expected to pursue Chicago Bears WR Bernard Berrian hard when the free-agent market opens Friday, Feb. 29. The team has ample salary cap space and may end up in a bidding war with the Minnesota Vikings for Berrian.

ESPN.com reports the San Francisco 49ers exercised a buyback clause in QB Alex D. Smith's contract Thursday, Feb. 28, which extends his deal through the 2010 season. Smith will compete with QB Shaun Hill for the starting quarterback position.

titans have room and need berrian bad. the robinson deal is a good move for the 49ers, even though he's just a role player.
