I disagree with that last sentence. In Matt Hasselbeck's first season in the WCO in Seattle, he was so bad he was benched mid-season for Trent Dilfer. But given time to learn, he's now made multiple pro-bowls and won an NFC Championship. I don't think next season is questionable for JC whatsoever barring a catasrophic regression in his play.
