I'm with you on this. As I have stated a while ago I was ready to throw in the towel at the end of this season. I really hate to admit it. I was a beaten man having to sit through the last 17 yrs of mediocracy. Zorn had done it for me. I'll admit it now that I actually was trying to think of another team I could root for cause I simply couldn't stand to see the same BS being put on the field. I told myself significant change would have to happen. I think it was unreasonable to expect the owner to sell a team that was making money so I knew that was not going to happen. So significant change was going to have to start from Cerrato on down. I truly didn't see Snyder getting rid of his long time buddy. Which to me meant more BS. I refused to support that and put any more money into the team in hopes that maybe the team would start to lose money and the owner would think of selling the team.
I was kinda shocked to see Cerrato resign. That was a huge step for me. Also Allen doesn't come to us with an excellent resume' but keep in mind he wasn't bad either. Put him with the right situation and HC and I think he will do well. I question our scouting department, which will decide if Allen did well for this yrs draft, but they couldn't throw the scouting department out knowing we only had a short few months to draft day. Any changes there would need to be made after the draft. Shanahan is a proven HC. People want to throw out there that he has only won 2 SB's. Atleast he's been there. His offenses were #1 for many yrs. Which means if he can change our offense around there will be lots of scoring and lots of cheering. His main issue was he refused to fire a defensive coach that the Bronco's owner wanted fired because he was loyal to him. We kinda have to wait and see what happens here defensively. Haslett is not my idea of a defensive guru and am kinda worried about our defense now but I'm holding out hope that Haslett's best yrs are in front of him and we show up with a winner. See Haslett played in a 3-4. He coached a 3-4 in Pittsburg. I think he tried to coach a 4-3 while with the Saints which didn't go over well and with the Rams which didn't do bad but didn't do well either. We may find out we have a 3-4 guru in Haslett or he may be simply a dud. What Shanahan does with Haslett if he bombs will tell us if Shanahan has learned his lessons.
Snyder on the other hand by all accounts seems to have stepped back as the fans have asked and hired the right people to get the job done. Lets atleast admire him for looking into the mirror and deciding what he was doing was not working and it needed to change. Lets be thankfull that our owner could recognize this and change. I'd hate to be a Dallas fan. The last time Dallas went to the SB Jerry took a hands off approach and let his good ole college buddy Jimmy Johnson take over the team. I think Jimmy left cause Jerry was starting to meddle and has ever since. Which is why I don't think Dallas will go all the way anytime soon. Even though they are supposed to be the top dog. Owners need to let the people who know how to coach, coach. One would think the coach's know what players fit best into their system and not the owner.
As I see it there was enough change in the front office to show me that we were not going to get the same ole BS again. I'm not saying we are on the SB track this yr or next but change was needed from the GM down to show me things would be different. DS constantly peraded his prize toys out on stage everytime and that even changed. He allowed Allen to handle all that. The mere fact that Allen and Shanahan had spoken prior to getting hired anywhere and both agreed they wanted to work together and that we got both shows me the chemistry will be good for once between GM and HC not annymosity and controling. I think 90% of Cerrato's issues were he didn't want to give up control to the HC. He didn't want DS siding with anyone but him. Thankfully that is all gone. Where to I don't know cause I am scared it might return but if what we have now turns out to be a winning combination then all that will be forgotten.
