YouTube - US Open Fight in the Stands Djokovic vs. Petzschner full fight
even tennis fans are getting into the act.
i used to get in a good bit of fights at sporting events. ive mellowed down alot and have learned to somewaht control my alcohol but i understand where the under 25 drunk guy is coming from. football is sold to us as a sport of gladiators going toe to toe on the gridiron. the images of jack lambert with missing teeth and bloody taped knuckels is teh image the NFL spat out for so long.
i used to feel like it was my job as a young rowdy fan to give it to opposing fans. to protect this house!
i dont know what happened, i guess i matured some. i guess i took too many lumps, i guess i go to games with my lady now instead of a roaming pack of wolves (yeah thats a hangover ref).
2-3 years ago i was at a orioles game and we were playing cleveland or something. my lady said she wanted to go, it was about the 6th inning, so i said hold on im gonna get escorted out of here (b/c i hadnt been kicked out of a game that year). i went down a few rows to a group of guys, 1 was wearing a yankees hat, i took it off and threw it in his lap and said "not in our house". he and his buddies just sat there and looked at me. we were about the same age except i was acting like an immature punk while they acted like the late 20 early 30 professional they were (and i was too). i just felt so stupid walking back up to our seats.
dont get me wrong, i still do stupid stuff at games and basically anyone who goes to a game with me gets a list of "do nots" like im a gremlin.
im proud to say, for whatever reason or combination of reasons, i go to games to enjoy it and pump up the crowd and not be a protector of all things skins.
but the rowdy violent nature that some drunk male fans display is a product of the NFL marketing imo.
