Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
[QUOTE=Dirtbag59;893348]While I agree with not going after the short term fix according to Mike Jones the Redskins will basically tell Peyton that they'll be able to fix those problems through free agency and possibly the draft.[/QUOTE
My POV comes from a thinking that signing PM is not a short term fix. It may be a short term fix to the QB position, but on the other hand if we get 4 or 5 solid years out of him then it really isn't that short as an average NFL career is 3 years.
Signing Peyton, gives us options in the draft. This is a deep draft and we can get some players out of this draft. We can grab a QB at some point ( by that I mean anywhere we please in the 1st to 7th round). We can trade back with our 6th pick and this would give the team more of a chance on hitting on some players. With more younger players we increase the chances of gaining quality players for this team.
Trading away the top picks in the next two drafts and 2 other picks for one guy who may be great, good, average, or just plain Ryan Leaf just doesn't seem really smart for a long term fix.
