FYI: If you do not need to use dish soap I would avoid it as it can add an unwanted tast to the food. That's even more important with cast iron stuff.

This pan has a smooth coating so it won't absorb it like cast iron or a pizza stone, but you're right in those cases.
This pan is as slick as a freshly-waxed car.
