Reid let him go because he felt he has good DTs already in Rayburn, Patterson, Grasmanis, and Hollis Thomas. If he brought Simon back he would have had to cut a pretty good DT just in the roster numbers game. But the move also gives them $15 million in cap room right now. Imagine that. They can give Brian Westbrook a $10 million bonus if they want, in the form of a roster bonus so the cap figure hits all this year. Then next year and beyond, Westbrook would count against the cap as if he were some rookie 5th rounder. I hate them so much, but they're the masters of smart cap management.

From what your saying he realy shot himself in the foot. He held out and gave the other players a chance to play and they knock him right out of a job and about 5 mil. LOL
