Re: Vikings vs. Redskins Gameday Thread

McNabb isn't the problem right now, in fact I think he's playing more solid than he has all season. He can't do it all alone though.

Payton is lightyears better than Mc5. If we brought Payton in, we would have lots of reasons to have hope in the Offense.

He was missed yesterday.

Anyone think the Vikings took all of their plays designed to get behind an overly-aggressive safety off the charts because Landry was out yesterday?

Brett Favre has played against safeties far more fearsome than LaRon Landry and has run the ball against them when he had to.

Re: Vikings vs. Redskins Gameday Thread

BTW- I have reached that part of the season where I know it is going to be a non-playoff year, again. So I just sit back and watch with little to no emotion.

For yet another year I will watch big games in Dec and Jan with no burgundy and gold in them.

I don't know the exact stat, but that was his longest run in a while, since last year I believe. I don't think the Vikings took all their plays out, but if Favre had seen an "overly aggressive safety" headed his way, he may have tried to throw a back against the grain errant ball. I do believe he has done that once or twice in his career.

...

"Did I expect to run for the first down?" Favre said. "I hadn't expected to run for a first down in quite a while. ... It was 10 yards, really? It felt like 50."

Asked about the play, tight end Visanthe Shiancoe joked: "I was like, 'I should press play with the slow motion.' That was big though. That's effort from the team."
...

The run was Favre's longest since he took off for 27 yards against Buffalo on Dec. 14, 2008, when he played for the Jets.

(emphasis mine)
Of course it's also discouraging that he made 10 yds

If Peyton or any other elite QB were here, with this team, he would look like Heath Schuler with this team.....

Anyone see what Manning did last night with a beat up OL and limited playmakers?

I didn't see the game, but wow, goes to show you how important it is to have a good offensive line.

Peyton, maybe. But Rapistberger would have been making big plays despite the line. Also, McNabb's balls in the dirt throws are a chronic problem for him, but not for anyone else.

Pittsburgh has an elite defense that can carry the team, they also have a good compliment of receivers and an actual running game. They've always had a suspect o-line, and it almost cost the game yesterday.

Re: Vikings vs. Redskins Gameday Thread

Guys we just have to remember that this system is new to the players and we need to fill some needs. I think winning a few games to start the season gave people false hope. You also have to remember the McNabb has been in the same system for 10 or 11 years and now has to forget that and start over. If the O around him had been in the system it would have helped things but they are all learning. Yesterday was just a bad day for some dropped balls and a bad block. I hate it too but I realize what we have and are working on. Also remember the Vikes are 11 games from one int to get into the SB so its not like they are bottom feeders.

It didn't give me false hope. Watching the way we've won, I knew we couldn't rely on that type of luck the whole season. You have to add some actual skill and effort to go along with the luck.
