Week 1 Loss - Post Thoughts Here
Quote:
No. We saw a chronic problem show itself yesterday that we’ve seen since the beginning of Gruden’s tenure. A complete second half collapse. It tells us that Gruden and Gruden’s coaching hasn’t changed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Week 1 Loss - Post Thoughts Here
It's becoming cliché but the NFL is such a week to week league.

Probably both. Plus it's just one game.

Re: Week 1 Loss - Post Thoughts Here
I've been saying this for several years. Although, I've recently lost faith in Gruden (never much had it for Manusky), there is still a chance this team can compete every week and find their way in wild card discussion late in the season.
The talent, albeit young, is there. We might be in for a shootout on Sunday. |

Anyone notice another questionable coverage on one of Jeffrey's TD's? He had Bostic trying to cover him. Why? A LB on a wr can not be the correct coverage.

I believe Nicholson blew the coverage.

Was that man coverage though? Either way he was right there. If his hand was 2 inches lower that ball is batted away.

It is hard to base anything on one week, but is it possible that the offense is actually going to have to carry this team to wins, rather than the other way around, as most expected?

Even though the defense has talent, without Allen and with Greg Manusky’s coaching they are not going to be as good as many expected. On the offensive side, our new WR are legit. They are going to be fun to watch. Unfortunately Case does not have the talent to get the ball to them every time they are open. That missed pass to a wide open McLaurin was a 7 point mistake, right when we desperately needed it. This team needs new coaches and some OL talent to really improve. But we have some new rookies that are going to make some plays. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Looking thru the grades from PFF on the first game
Well just highlight a couple things: Landon Collins was terrible in coverage. Jimmy Moreland, Matty I, Jon Bostic, Ryan Anderson were terrible in Run Defense. For Bostic that's especially terrible. Tim Settle, Monty graded well. Payne and Norman solid. The Interior Oline graded well. Flowers was solid. Moses graded out terrible. Penn graded out as our best Run Blocking Olineman, but not good pass blocking. Vernon Davis continues to give us nothing run blocking. Sprinkle graded well. Terry McL graded well, highest grade on Offense. Guice graded second highest. Solid grades for Harmon and CT.

Re: Week 1 Loss - Post Thoughts Here
The bad:
- Blown opportunity. - Penalties. I swear I don't understand holding anymore. - Not making plays to finish, close doesn't count. (pressures, coverage, tipped balls not intercepted, dropped balls when desperately needed, missed TDs ) - Running game. It went away. The Good: - Offense. Has a chance to make shit happen as they get to know each other. - Recent draft picks. Scary Terry, Harmon, Holcomb, Quinn, Payne, Roullier. We just might have several really solid back end picks in the last couple of years. - Team speed. The difference was noticeable - Returns. Not a shit show for once. Actually looked like we might get a decent return now and then. Overall. Game 1 against a really good team. Not good to give it away at all, but alot more to be happy about than I remember in recent years. Some shit looked flat good. I am going to reserve further judgement until week 8 when the league has developed its identity for the year. |
