Re: Week 1: Let's Go!!!!

I'm cautiously optimistic. If things come together then the O can be competitive and at least keep us in games.

Everyone is talking about the OL and TE from a passing game perspective, but what if the running game and short/screen passing game have early success? If they can keep out of too many obvious long passing downs (low risk plays, lot's of PA which is one of Haskins good areas), then pass pro is mitigated and he doesn't need 3-4 seconds back there.

I'm not saying its a sure thing but I couldn't help noting that the Chiefs, even with a proven passing game, probably the best QB in football, leant heavily on the run game and a lot of misdirection Thursday to negate the pass rush. Their D stifled the Texans. We're not that good a roster but seems to me exactly the game plan we should be using. Probably won't beat the best teams, maybe not even be competitive with them, but the 2nd tier teams will be beatable.

From what little I know about Scot Turner's offense, I think you just described what we're going to see on Sunday. This does not necessarily equate to "dink and duck" because we now have more speed and explosiveness on offense than we've had in years. I believe that Terry McLaurin, Steven Smith, Jr., McKissic, Gibson, and Love can all take it to the house at any time. A heavy dose of running and short passing will also set up some deep shots. I think we'll compete hard on offense.
