Growing up being told your amazing at everything does something to your ego. When people tell you how awesome you are, it goes strait to your head. You start blabbing stuff out like a 5 year old... but don't take my word for it:

"I've had this personality since I was about 5 years old. And if I ever thought it was a problem, I would have changed it. I'm okay with this kind of attention. So if I thought it was a problem, I would have changed it 20 years ago."

I think what he was trying to say here is that he is not going to change his attitude becuase we saw a bad side of it no matter what light it is shown in.
