Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!

LMFAO at the comment about the best players play.

That is ABSOLUTLEY not true on the team at this point in time. Doc Walker said it before the season started it, absolutley everybody has said it.

Starting jobs here are anointed. there is no competition...unless injury happens. that's sad.

Who cares if you're mad he doesn't practice. You have a right not to practice when you are carrying the whole offense on your shoulders, and taking a freaking beating every week. Portis carried us after Sean Taylor died. Yet, some people claim it was Collins. Portis is getting no credit for what he does and blame because he does not fit the image you would like to see. I say keep sacrificing your body to advance that pigskin and you have done your job Clinton.
I largely agree with you, but "social conservative culture war"...what place does that have here?

I take back that statement.

Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!

I also get so tired of hearing that "Portis is the whole offense"

That's such a ridiculous statement, but if is true....then you see the reason why we ranked like a paltry #28 in overall offense, and only 17 pts a game.

THE VERY FIRST TIME PORTIS DIDNT START....we got out of the losing slump, and Betts ran for 114 yards...so there you go on Portis being the whole offense. I guess it's true. When portis is out, the whole offense opens up.

I think you are having the typical knee jerk reaction of complaining about anyone who criticizes Portis.

As I mentioned before, no one is discrediting or disregarding what Portis has done for this organization, but it is foolish to just hold on to that and pretend like he has had any type of impact on or off the field this season.

And I completely disagree with the whole leadership issue. While yes, leadership should come from the head coach, but it should also come from veteran players, especially those that are seen as the face of the franchise (i.e. Peyton, Brady, Ray Lewis, etc., etc.).

Finally, I am far from hating on Clinton Portis...I think if healthy, he can still be a big part of this offense, but the team should change its philosophy and not make him the ONLY part of the offense. This team needs to adopt a two-RB system, to make sure that in the future we don't run to death the next Clinton Portis.

PS: And what the hell do you mean by social conservative war?

I'm starting to come to the conclusion that the Redskins have what I would call Gilbert Arenas syndrome. When Gil was out the last couple of years other players played extremely well and more cohesively. When Gil returned it look like they lost "something". I wonder if the same thing has been happening to the Skins and Portis.

Its definitely not "a wild statement" to say Betts is better.

I wouldn't agree that this this line they have had to offer....Portis had Thomas and Samuels for at least one game...didn't look nearly as good as Betts.

I agree...and will speculate that a lot of it has to with having players playing that are hungry and have something to prove.

Portis is the golden child, most likely gets special treatment and throws his teammates under the bus... its probably a whole lot easier to block for a guy who shows up to practice every day, keeps his mouth shut and just does his job....just my opinion.

Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!

I'm just sick of everything that has to do with him now.

I appreciate his contributions to the team...but seriously he hasnt been a factor since halfway last season. He brings nothing to the field anymore other than a bad attitude and poor work ethic.

People would support him and rally for him if he would just change his attitude, but he doesnt care. He is set in his ways and i hope it finds him out of a job soon....The next coach will hopefully see these things, and at least relegate portis to a backup role, if he is not released.

Or traded for an offensive lineman.
