Re: AFC/NFC Championship Weekend '10
Quote:
First of all, New Orleans is a mess by its own hand. Failed levees that were not properly designed or maintained and failed. Corrupt Louisiana politics stealing funds and attentions to infastructure coupled with undereducated populace equals a recipe for disaster. Enter Katrina... I am a military brat who was born in D.C. I have two younger sisters born in california, and have lived everywhere from Philadelphia to the Phillippnes. I now live in New Orleans, and have made her my home since exactly 30 days after Katrina hit here. I have had the pleasure meeting, working, helping, and spending my life for the last four and a half years with New Orleanians. Both black and white, born here, or transplants, there is a sense of New Orleans among the people here.(Anyone who has visited here can identify with what I mean by this). For those of you that are "sick" or "tired" of hearing about "Katrina", or how much the Saints, "mean to the city", I have to wonder of your motives. From a true disaster, to a Superbowl? Who in their right mind as a Saints fan, or a resident here in New Orleans, wouldn't take this as a sign of hope, rebirth, or as a positive note post Katrina? This should give us all hope as Redskins fans! The Redskins are a true NFL franchise disaster. I mean this should give us all hope and proof that if a team that has a 40 something year history of being pathetic, and flooded out of town for a year, rebuilt with a rookie head coach, won their first playoff game, hosted their first NFC championship, and went to their first Superbowl, WE CAN GET THERE TOO. So, If you are not just strictly "hating" on the Saints, and their recent success, Then how can you not be "touched by", or feel something for the lovable losers that have suddenly gained stregnth in their city's lowest moment?
