Re: Coaching Staff update
thought this was interesting...
Redskins interviewed Bad Moon Rison Posted by Evan Silva on February 2, 2010 10:43 AM ET Former five-time Pro Bowl receiver Andre "Bad Moon" Rison has gotten serious about a post-playing days coaching career. He recently founded the Andre Rison Football Academy, which, according to the academy's website, will tour the United Kingdom this spring before traveling throughout the United States this summer. FOX Sports' Jay Glazer now reports that Rison was among those interviewed for the Redskins' wide receivers coach vacancy in January. The position ultimately went to Keenan McCardell.

Re: Coaching Staff update
So since they're talking about how the McCardell/Allen meeting might be pretty awkward I guess Shanahan hired him; I wonder if it was all done over the phone?

Re: Coaching Staff update
I don't see it neither; there's still no ongoing contact talk between Owens's agent and Bills that we know of.. Owens pretty much was nonfactor in his 1 yr stint with Bills.. I'm pretty sure Owens wants big bucks in his new contract and Bills might not feel he's worthy of it?

Re: Coaching Staff update
I figure I post this for those who wanted Ray Brown to coach our OL, he will be assisting Mike Solari in SF:
former 49er Ray Brown is expected to be named assistant offensive line coach under Mike Solari. Brown played in San Francisco from 1996 to 2001.

Re: Coaching Staff update
No all the rumors I've heard is that the Senior Bowl is a place where coach's go to get their names out there. Zorn was there, Saunders, McCardell and many others. It so happened that Shanahan and his contingent were there and spoke with him at the Senior Bowl. Coach liked what McCardell offered and offered him a job. I'm sure he most likely talked with Allen and DS to see if they had any issues with the pick.

Re: Coaching Staff update
Also the fact that McCardell followed the team for a year as a analyst with Comcast had to play a part in the hiring. I remember his last statement on Comcast was offering to coach the young recievers on air... I guess he'll get his chance, I hope he does a good job!

My best guess is that he's going to feel out the market. Plus there wouldn't much talk between Buffalo and him and his agent.... they were looking for a HC which is more important and the coaching staff. Then I guess they would let the new HC decide if they want to keep him or not. Then there is the fact that there is probably only a few teams that will want him and even fewer that will pay him decently. Now the big question is will the Skins be a player considering Shanahan was interested in T.O. prior to his being fired by the Bronco's? There's no throwing away draft picks, no trading players or anything. If the team plays their cards right they can use the other WR's (Kevin Walter, and Antonio Bryant) against each other in order to get a decent deal for one of the elite WR's out there. |
