I think the NFL has pretty much hit it's ceiling for revenue or damn near close. You need only look at the economy to understand this. Wages aren't getting any higher but inflation is/has rising steadily. It comes down to a max you'll be able to squeeze out of companies for advertising. |

In 10 years there will be massive internet rights, too, to go along with ginormous tv rights.

I disagree. Adding more primetime games will dilute their product. It used to be that Monday Night Football was the big game to watch (now it's moved to Sunday night), and Sunday night was the meh...it's on so I'll watch it kinda game. You start adding in more primetime guys and you'll saturate your market and not in a good way.

DIRECTV: NFL SUNDAY TICKET To-Go NFL’s New $4 Billion DirecTV Deal Includes Streaming Rights | paidContent The revenues for the NFL have skyrocketed the past 5-10 years. There is no way it can continue that type of revenue. Much like the housing market and anything else, there comes a time and point where you can't get anymore. Sure they'll get increase in revenue, but at some point, it isn't going to be feasible for TV stations to get the rights to broadcast. When you see NFL broadcasting rights expense start outweighing the advertising revenue, then you'll see TV stations backing down on even bidding. |

You guys are speaking right in my wheelhouse, these are exactly the things I work on. But, I can't and don't discuss specifics here. So I'll just say...can't wait for some NFL moves finally next week

10 years ago, there wasn't an NFL Network adverting games. I am sure in 10 years we will be paying for new and different ways to view the game. Just saying, the world is not a static place. The economy will again bounce back and revenues will rise - inflation will cause wages to rise, etc. etc. I would not be surprised if (after adjusing for inflation) NFL real revenues increase by 50% or more in the 10 years.

Re: Twitter burns as Owners ratify
you all are missing the point, internet will provide equal access to all, thus allowing workers around the world to unite, and finally throw off the bounds of the evil owners. The players just didn't wait for the right moment to unite.
[/sarcasm] sure hope we are too busy talking about specific Redskins moves by Tues/Wed to care about NFL revenue streams for the next 10 years. |
