Commissioner Goodell treated at a NY hospital for bruised ribs he suffered after several bear hugs from emotional drafted NFL players.

I liked that. In fact my opinion of Goodell has gone up considerably over the past week. The prime time thing really went over well. I still hope though that the 18 games rule doesn't get passed.

The problem was the lack of offensive playmakers the previous year. Everyone on this board was complaining about the non-existence of a vertical game all year long, so we got out and got weapons.
Not true...we were all calling for Oline help...yes we needed a receiver and 2 was arguably ok in case one bombed....but a TE?...that was a luxury pick at the time and people here certainly questioned it.
We needed oline help then...no doubt among other needs...I like Fred Davis now...but...had we addressed the line then, we may not have needed to draft an Olineman early on...we could have drafted the top Free Safety as an example.

I am not talking hindsight 20/20....I am talking about a questionable pick when we had Cooley...the guy rides the pine most of the time...an high 2nd round olineman would have been playing at least 70% of snaps by now

Remember the BS cover crap?....oh yeah...were gunna run massive 2 TE sets....never happened...they were just covering up for Vinnie being married to the board and ignoring team deficiencies.

Or that he changes his mind about having the f'ing Pro Bowl before the SB.

You must not be a fan of any of the other major sports. They scheduled the DRAFT in direct competition with the mlb regular season, and the post season's of both hockey and basketball. This is hubris at its highest, and at some point its gonna come back around for the nfl.
Also i can't like Goodell until he changes the pro bowl back to the way it used to be. I liked the idea of it being a reward for the players and their families to go to hawaii, now its just another money grubbing strategy by the nfl.

I still think though that Marko Mitchell will turn out to be something special, especially given Shanahan's competition theme which hopefully won't discriminate against rookies like our previous "offensive guru."
Dirtbag....if Mitchell has a legitamate shot to play, we've got serious problems.

Ok, he grabbed a couple TD's in preseason against 3rd and 4th stringers because he's tall.
Thats called Basketball.

Don't get me wrong, I was shouting for playing time for him to since he was outperforming the other young guys...but that is certainly not saying much.

This team needs a legitamate #1 or #2 receiver for McNabb.
We can't wait for the young guys to develop while we cross our fingers....however, we absoutely CANNOT deal with TO...he is an absolute JERK PSYCHO.

That was one of those things where I didn't really like the idea but it really did drum up interest in the Pro Bowl. Maybe a little bit more leniency on Super Bowl participants arriving a day or two before their team but other then that it seemed to work.

With the 18 games though it would mess up the standards for stats and records, not to mention it would shorten the career of certain players. I mean think about it, even if you don't make the playoffs in 8 years you end up playing the equivalent of 9 seasons. I guess maybe if it encouraged coaches to go easier on players in practice it would balance out but still.

Thats the thing though about Mitchell. If he's as talented as I think he is then Shanahan will play him, if not then he'll be on the bench. Remember this is a coach who had Rod Smith and Ed McCaffery as his two best receivers. Not only did he get two post 2nd round guys to produce (with Rod Smith being undrafted) but he got a white guy to the pro bowl as a Receiver. That in and of itself is an accomplishment.

If you live in the Baltimore/DC area is kinda hard to be a fan of MLB and NBA.

That being said, I think MLB can survive 3 days out their 160 game season. Plus, I think David Stern would put something similar against the NFL if he could do it.

Yah but its pretty easy to be excited about the caps....
the nats will hopefully be good at some point, theyr building the team the right way, and as much as baseball bores me the stadium is awesome. And at this point youv just gotta hope the wiz get luckier in the lottery than they did last year.

If they can put out a product that people would rather watch then they have nothing to worry about. Not everyone gets a trophy and they can't make everyone happy. Saturday there is a Nationwide Race and Sunday there is a Sprint Cup Race, when should they do it?

Dont know why that would mean we have serious problems. By all accounts Shanny wants competition and if Marko is playing well enough to be a starter than so be it. I recall Shanahan saying something like he got rid of two first or second rounders after he saw what Rod Smith could do and not because they couldnt play, but because Rod could.
