Re: Jags Postgame
Awful. Was really looking forward to seeing what he could do this year.

one valid defense .. he excelled at man playing up on his guy in Cincy .. and we use our corners in zone off the LOS. I only got to watch the 4Q and didnt get to pause, rewind etc this game so I dont know what we were asking our outside corners to do but we didnt play a lot of man last year. We signed a really good physical man corner ... and we play him in soft zone. Why even sign him if we were going to square peg a circle thing with him? he reminds me of breeland. a good physical corner, always around ball but guys seem to make contested catches on him. hes in position, just a fingernail short at times. ---------- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aosepuuGeIg Quick scroll through first half highlights .. on D plays shown, we played tight man on outside to start game then every D formation shown was outside corners playing 10 yards off Lots of soft zone by outside corners per the highlights |

Re: Jags Postgame
Finding snap counts for this team the day after a game is always an issue. Google "commanders snap count week 1" and first hit is a jaguars snap count breakdown.
Ben Standig has them Sims had 8 snaps, Dyanmi Brown only had 3 .. Defense - holcomb played 100%, jamin Davis 93% ... so we played at least nickel or more 93% of the snaps Smith-Williams 37 snaps, Toothill 30, Obada 21 https://twitter.com/BenStandig/statu...1457494888448/ |

Re: Jags Postgame
I mentioned this a while ago, but if these guys can win some games 35-28 at least they will be fun to watch. W/ Samuel finally healthy and Dotson really looking like a nice pick, plus the size at TE and the pass catchers out of the backfield, Terry, Sims in the red zone... we got some serious dudes on offense. If Carson can just clean up the dumb shit, and even if he doesn't, this offense can put up some points. It's going to be hard to account for all these guys.

Dotson has the same explosive side but that catch radius of his is ridiculous for someone who is 5'11"

I don't think we are any good on defense but the name of the game for them will be turnovers. They gotta get the ball back to the offense a couple times a game. |

Re: Jags Postgame
Signed Donovan Jeter undrafted to replace Mathis, signed by Steelers. Here’s some scouting on him, he seems below average with good size.
Positives: Nice-sized defensive tackle who had an underwhelming college career. Fires off the snap with a quick first step, keeps his feet moving, and works his hands throughout the action. Flashes power in his lower body and bull rushes opponents off the line. Negatives: Cannot get off blocks once engaged at the point and gets held up by lesser opponents. Gets very narrow-based in his setup. Analysis: Jeter possesses next-level size as well as growth potential, yet he never presented himself as anything other than an average college backup.

Re: Jags Postgame
I thought it was a good win. It's hard to know how a team will come out in week 1 - the first time a true game plan is put together, and all the starters are in for the majority of the game.
Considering all the new pieces I was pretty impressed with how the offense performed. When was the last time this team scored two TDs on their first two drives, and then ended the same game with a kneel down? I thought the defense was pretty good collectively. They gave up 22 points, but 10 of those came off turnovers. Some individual players got beat, but the players on the other side are trying to make plays too. It happens, and will happen again. Some keep talking about all the plays Jacksonville left out there, but so did Washington. "If Etienne made this catch, or if Lawrence didn't over throw this guy, if they didn't miss that FG..." I mean Washington turned the ball over three times, had dropped balls and penalties that killed drives, and still won. Don't get me wrong, the middle of the game was rough (Punt, Fumble, Punt, Punt, Interception, Interception), but the beginning and the end was very nice (TD, TD.....TD, TD, Kill the clock). Nit-pickers will be nit-pickers, and that's all good. There's always room for improvement, but I think the Jaguars will be better than last year, and they will beat some good teams. It was a worthy opponent to start the season, and we got the W. |
