FTFY.

I expect no less than 8 Rangers trying to fight Tom Wilson at various points of the game.

Honestly the moves they've made scream they are more worried about revenge than winning.

Just hope we can get through the game without any major injuries.

+1

This team needs a serious retooling if they expect to compete for titles, but I agree - the lack of moves made suggest they are comfortable with this first round exit mediocrity.

Kuzy would've been gone last season if it were up to me.

Re: Stanley Caps

Yep and I would have McMicheals up all season long. We need some legitimate offensive threat on the third line. I will say I am excited to see Lapierre

There's definitely something to be excited about with McMichaels/Lapierre/Fehervary, I'm particularly excited to see how Fehervary does, but there will be growing pains. I would prefer they bring in some experienced guys if they really want to play for another title, but at the same time not sure that's possible with the cap constraints.

Re: Stanley Caps

Yeah kinda hard to get really pumped up for the season when its all but given we will do well enough in the regular season but be a first round playoff exit.

Cap restraints mean its really the same teams as the past couple years. So we should get the same results.

BUT we get to see McMichael and Lapierre so that is new.

Ovie looks outs vs NYR tomorrow.

I did enjoy the game. It was nice seeing some young blood in the game. I enjoyed watching Reeves get tossed like a rag doll by Jensen a third line defense man. The lack of 5v5 scoring potential was a bit disconcerting in a long term perspective.

For one night everything went mostly right.

I certainly enjoyed seeing the Caps make the game non-competitive after the Rangers decided upgrading their team toughness was priority #1 in the offseason.

Go Hurricanes! I don't follow hockey. Are they usually good? Also, is this also the general hockey thread, or strictly for Washington?

It is pretty much general hockey and you can root for hurricanes but you will have to take the beatings. I’ll start. What the fuck? You randomly choose a team and you choose one named after a natural disaster that causes billions of dollars in damage and kills hundreds of people a year? I bet your minor league team is the California Arson Started Wildfires of the west coast hockey league you sick bastard.

Actually Carolina is pretty good and well coached. The met is deep they will be players for a playoff spot so you should have fun with them.

I was a Sharks fan as I'm originally from the bay area. It was the only local team that was every my favorite team. So now I'll swing it over to Carolina. The season will still be on when I get there. I've never been to an NHL game before, I hear nothing but good things. I'll have to go check one out.

Attending a hockey game is extremely fun! Especially if it is a good game with a tight score!

IMHO....Absolutely Nothing beat the atmosphere at a hockey area when the home team scores an important goal

Re: Stanley Caps

Who is this Kuznetsov guy? He reminds of the first line center the Caps had in 2018.

The only thing that frustrates me about his start this year is this quote:

“I’m not a shooter,” he said. "I always say one goal for four games and I’m all set: get 20 in a year, so now I’m all set for 10 games probably.”

Dude - you are a top line center. You are anchoring Ovechkin and Tom Wilson who is no slouch in his own right. He needs to abandon this "20 a year" mentality. He needs to take a cue from Ovi - try to score or assist on every shift. That's what it takes to be an elite 1C.

If he keeps this "well I scored, I'm good for the next 3 games" mentality he is gonna regress back to his shitty form from last year.
