Re: Around the NFL

I dunno, I think the Patriots are pretty damn good. That defense is at least.
Its how far that rookie can take them.

Gilmore was a stud a few years ago. Injuries and an off 2020 ... Im sure he will have a line of suitors offering him a team friendly 1 year deal.
Cowboys is my guess. Jaylon Smith ... cowboy fans are pretty much in agreement re him for a few years now. Dumb signing, liability in coverage, slow to read/recognize/react |

Bears name Justin Fields their starting QB moving forward per Schefty:
@AdamSchefter Bears HC Matt Nagy announces that, going forward, Justin Fields is Chicagos starting QB.

For a sixth rounder:
@AdamSchefter Patriots traded Stephon Gilmore to the Panthers for a 2023 sixth-round pick.

We could lose the rest of the games this year and bringing RR aboard would still be the right call. For this organization at that time .. RR was the right guy at the right time for us. He doesnt seem to be a X and O genius and hes not under 40 ... but hes smart enough to identify what he does well and allocates to people for things he doesnt do well. RR was and is much more than a HC for this organization. He was the PR face of it last year during a tough time, he built an entire FO and Coaching Staff, he got Snyder to double the scouts and asst coaches and asst GMs he brought in. RR has elevated this franchise from a bottom 3 in terms of staff/infrastructure/scouting to now I feel like we are middle of the road. Which is a huge improvement from where we were. |

WFT has a better W/L record through their respective tenures, made the playoffs, and gave the SB champs all they wanted - all with a much more maligned QB situation, and apparently a paper tiger defense. RR has done more for this organization in the same time than Rhule has for Carolina in my opinion. I do think that Rhule was a good hire - time will tell for sure, but I'm tired of the comparisons that seem to indicate that Carolina is on a much better trajectory than the WFT. I don't see it. |

Sunny & Chief, I didn't mean to imply that Rhule is better than Rivera. I agree with you both as I still believe that Snyder made the right choice by hiring Rivera. We needed a quality coach who can transform WFT culture and I think the move is successful so far.
I was looking through Panthers' lens with my statement regarding Rhule. |

I have just seen some posts recently eluding to the idea that Rhule has done more with less, and that somehow they are on the path to greatness due to him, while RR is running this organization into the ground. It's not the case. I think both have the potential to be successful, but the jury is still out. |

Around the NFL
week 4

I am certainly one of those posters. Rhule has done more with less up until this point. RR isnt running us into the ground. We were in the ground. Also as far as the jury still being out well certainly on Rhule as he is in his second year of being a HC. RR on the other hand has had plenty of time to be successful. Is he the worst? Nope. Is he the best? Nope. If you look at it season to season he is closer to a failure than a success. Not sure where exactly on the spectrum but certainly closer to the wrong end of it. Chief if you were the GM of the WFT and Carolina called and said hey Chief we want Ron back and you can have Rhule would you do it? I would. We know what Ron is. A good guy. A seemingly decent coach but with a propensity for losing seasons. Could Carolina go in the shitter still? Yes. I can only base my opinion on an admittedly small window. He walked into a disaster in Carolina and took a year to see what he had. Now in year two they appear to be a much improved team. In year two of Rons time here we appear to have taken a step back. At least on the defensive side of the ball. Hard to judge the offense because they had two bad quarterbacks and one wr. Gibson was hurt. So to say the offense has improved in year two under Ron and Co. seems to me to be based on personnel not coaching. Again they offer up a coach swap im all in. But you never know what the future holds I guess. Also in regards to ur post about us having more success in 2020 we played them Dec 27. They were 5-10. We were 6-9. Most of our wins against the nfc least. They won. Chances are Carolina would have won the East last year if they were in it. |

Panthers were 5-11 in 2019, Redskins were 3-13. Since 2020 the Panthers had only two QBs start more than one game. Teddy started all but one in 2020, and they have had one QB (Darnold) this year. Washington - has had four QBs start at least four games - not including losing their starter in week one of 2021. To say Rhule has done more with less is not accurate, and I can't say he's any better than RR at this point. They both may be successful where they are, but to anoint Rhule anything at this point is undeserving in my opinion. No, right now I wouldn't swap RR with Rhule. |

Around the NFL

Never said RR inherited a good team. Lol. I think I started off by saying he didnt drive us into the ground. We were already in it. Was totally comparing Rons time in Carolina with Rhules very short time there. I am well aware of the shitshow organization that is us, his cancer, etc. It is why I didnt really touch on that part of his career much. NFL execs fired Ron and replaced him with Rhule who turned around and beat Ron. When I made my original comment about him doing more with less a couple weeks ago I thought I was clear it was a very small sample size - if not my bad. Rhule might shit the bed and get fired in two years never to coach again? Who knows? Seriously Chief im not in love with Rhule - havent seen enough. This is strictly a hunch and strictly based on an extremely small window. It appears though that his team on both sides of the ball have bought in and it is year two. It appears that the team is trending up. My hunch says the guy is a good coach and will go down as a better coach than Ron. But, of course, I root for us not them so I hope Ron turns our team around and Rhule and the Panthes can fuck off. Lol. Just objective football talk Chief, and you never answered the question, would you swap coaches? I totally would. Might wind up regretting it of course but I would. |

So far Ruhle is what, 8-12 overall in the NFL? Let's give it some time before we compare him to RR who has at least been to a SB.
