Agreed; and to get two potential starters after the draft, and as you mentioned not overpaying for them. VERY refreshing to have a competent FO. Kudos to Rivera and company.

Good, like the fact that this coaching staff if valuing quality characters/hard working guys but not getting 1 sec with fake sense of owing guys playing time because they worked hard. They're here to build a roster and win games.
We all loved Reaves' attitude/story, but if we got better options, I'm all for it.

Re: Post Draft Free agency targets

I think something is happening that hasn’t happened here in a long time.......other teams players and FA’s want to play for us.
I think the combination of having a strong, young, talented defense and a great coaching staff is making Washington an attractive place where FA’s now want to play here. Our roster is filing out...our FO is making smart moves. We have depth.
Cats and dogs are getting along.
What’s next?

Key thing I note is the right kind of FA's.

We had a great draft. After the draft, getting Patterson, Leno, and now McCain is bigtime. Absolutely love this offseason.

If Fitz works out and is consistent, we're going to be tough to beat this season. Defense should be awesome.

Hail WFT!

Those highlights are great. 1st one is an INT of Dak. He lays the wood in Metcalf too - that isn’t easy. Love the attitude and swagger.

Our D is going to maul people. We need to elect to kick with every coin toss. We will give Fitzmagic a short field to start every game.

Honestly, there is NOTHING better than a D that destroys your opponent. I’d rather watch a shutout 17-0 than see a 42-35 win any day.

Having a competent true FS that can cover your ass deep is huge in today's NFL. That was one gaping hole on roster except QB, glad we filled it. McCain is severely undersized, so has a limited role, but as a slot guy or FS, great find. May also free us up to keep 1 less DB total since he can play FS or slot CB or nickel, as that is certainly weakness of roster on back end, vs. say a 6th or 7th WR or extra OL.

Re: Post Draft Free agency targets

Watched offensive snaps of WC Bears @ Saints 2020 game.
Charles Leno seems like a nice addition to me. Long arms and very consistent pass pro.
Run blocking is meh. Does the job, but never gets any real push, and sometimes doesn't sustain.
No flashy play to show you either way.

Re: Post Draft Free agency targets

Ok... I have NO idea why the Miami basically gave us Ereck Flowers...
Granted it's one game, but I watched offensive snaps of last year's Rams @ Dolphins...
Flowers played really REALLY well against a very good DL.
He held his own 1 on 1 against Aaron freakin Donald. He got driven back and beaten a couple of times... but it's Donald... and he never got humiliated, not one "oh my gosh Donald is a monster, nothing you can do against him" play.

We got great value in this trade.

Some worth seeing plays:

He had a lot of these in the game in the run game, giving help to either the C or T and then looking for a second guy to block, very pro active:

Look at him maintain his block and then perfectly pick up the stunt:

Another nice job against a stunt:

1 on 1 in pass pro vs Donald, Tua doesn't step up in the pocket but Flowers did his job there, didn't he ?

Gets tackle help at the end but nice play against Donald:

They were in cap hell, and while he is a good player, he underplayed his contract in Miami. They overpaid big time in FA. Case study in risk of FA signings, fact they excel in one system one place doesn't mean will next, tons of variables, and when you overpay a player at low leverage position and then he underperforms. . .

Something to perhaps consider when we have good players we KNOW are exceling here like Allen that we can resign.

I think every Redskins fan likes the signing. High upside, little long term risk.
Thanks for the film. Good stuff.

Much better than watching Darnold throw Martin around like a blocking sled....
