Great move!!!!!!!! My only thing about the money is the concern that some posters brought up with the botched Stubblefield experiment. Will he get lazy quick with all that guaranteed dough? Haynesworth was a great pickup, but is any one player worth that much?

solid pickup. exactly what most us of here wanted to see picked up. I dont like the question "will he get lazy?" or "will he not play to what hes being paid"... thats what the reporters are asking him and its no good. The guy knows what he has to do already...hopefully... but hell be good.

After his press conference I'm liking this move even more. Not that a press conference always tells you what the real deal is, but he seems really grounded for a guy thats just made a ton of money.

I just jumped to the last page so i am not influenced by everyone else's post. so here goes...money cant buy everything. I just dont see Haynesworth being that one piece we are sorely missing. Our D was pretty solid as is...I mean to be honest it was the offense who really let us down in the second half of the season. one final thought and i am sure this is cliche by now...Dana Stubblefield. Any other questions????...if so see Dan Wilkinson....

You should've seen some of the other posts or some of the previous threads about this topic and see things like...

- Dan Wilkinson actually put up some good stats the first 2-3 years he was with the Redskins
- In the past, the Redskins have gone after flashy free agents who are past their primes or overpaid for average players
- We acquired Dockery, which seems like the beginning of the FO addressing the offensive line
- The way that AH's contract is setup, it compensates him the most for the first years of his contract (in reality the deal is like 4 yrs, 48 mil with 41 guaranteed).

You're entitled to your opinion, however something that you mentioned have been discussed and I think your opinion may have not be as reactive. Although a lot of people still feel that there's a risk factor, so I give you that.

Horton and Landry are pretty darn good "stickem hard" players. I miss Sean's intensity also, but these two youngsters are playing for keeps. Our D is now pretty solid. Gotta work on the OL line now.

The Redskins would owe Haynesworth a lump sum of $29 million in salary and bonuses in 2013, the fifth year of the deal. It is unlikely the team will pay the full commitment of $100 million over seven years unless the contract is re-negotiated. Haynesworth will receive $41 million in guaranteed money.

Like we've said time and again when it comes to these big-money contracts, the number that gets reported carries a lot of fluff aimed at making the deal look better, presumably to help the agent leverage the transaction into attracting further clients.
In the case of the contract signed on Friday by defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth with the Redskins, the headlines regarding a seven-year, $100 million deal with a maximum value of $115 million sound a lot better than something like, say, four years and $48 million.

But Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that, in reality, the contract is worth $48 million over four years.

In the fifth year of the deal, Haynesworth is due to receive a whopping $29 million in salary and bonuses. And since he'll be 32 when the 2013 season begins, the Redskins likely won't pay those amounts.

Still, $41 million of the $48 million is genuinely guaranteed, which is the true significance of the contract. Moving forward, look for a greater percentage of the actual base value of these contracts to represent guaranteed money.

Like Wilbon said, a lot of people's reaction is an emotional reaction of "oh crap here we go again" (I'm not saying you did that by the way, I think all of us said that to ourselves at one point). However, the more details we know about the deal and the more we learn about AH, as well as the other move by the FO (Dock) gives you a different reaction.
