Re: Steelers Saturday

Maybe I'm too pessimistic but I think Dan and Vinny have set Zorn and Campbell up for failure on offense. Pittsburgh after the Ravens is hard to swallow, but we need to look extremely good on offense or else we're looking at a very poor season. And that's what Snyder wants so he can fire Zorn and get rid of Campbell. I hope I'm wrong about this.

Really, I just don't get it. We have to look good - in preseason - on offense against last years number 1 and 2 D's or we are going to have a real poor season, when the only tough D's we play in the regular season are our division(not the AFC West, maybe Carolina and the Saints, not StL or Detroit). If we hold our own, I mean no mental mistakes, JC not being sacked all through the first half, and we can move even a little bit then I would say the season looks good. But, it's silly to pound my head against this mentality of "Performance Now".

The win - loss in this game doesn't matter, what matters is do the coaches and player get closer to being on the same page.

I firmly believe, if a good coach knows exactly what his players can do, and if 53 players all know exactly what is expected of them, then they can come out and beat ANY team in the NFL. I think that's the key to preseason. We will see if they figure it out.

Of course we could always see a Spurrier moment where Zorn plays his starters well into the 3rd quarter, and blows out the Steelers. At least we would all feel good.

Re: Steelers Saturday

I want to see the first team offense stay in the game until they score. I don't care if they leave them in until the Steelers fourth defense is in. After that, I could care less what else happens other than no injuries, good special teams play.

Re: Steelers Saturday

1. I want to see no major injuries.

2. I want to see at least one good scoring driving from the first string offensive line. It doesn't matter if it's a field goal or touchdown. I just want to see a sustained drive.

3. I would like to see better production on special teams. I think there is a great opportunity for someone to win the punt returner responsibilities. The punter looked good in the first game, continue the good work. Didn't get a chance to see the placekicker.

4. I want to see the offensive line keep all the quarterbacks upright. I couple of nice runs would be satisfying.

5. I want to see better coverage in the secondary. I thought the coverage was poor. Tryon and Barnes particularly have to improve.

6. I want to see Malcolm Kelly or Devin Thomas work with the first string offense in a three wide receiver sets. Number 80, can't recall his name, didn't impress me.

7. The defensive line is looking like the strength of the team. They are getting to the passer, but I would like to see them wrap up the quarterback better.

8. I want to see Zorn punch an assistant coach in the face!

Are you saying that Dan and Vinny made our schedule?

Your crazy. Dan wants to win more than any of us. He brought Dockery back, if they fail its there fault. We have Cooley,Portis,Moss those 3 alone can take over a game.We must find some way to hit on all 8-cylinders. Theres enough players here that have the skill, but can they show them when it counts.

Re: Steelers Saturday

Most of all, I want to see Albert Haynesworth play. I especially want to see him work with Griffin because I think they'll be a dynamite combination.

I'd like to see the O play better.

I'd also like the coaching staff keep things pretty basic on offense and defense so it will be easier for me to get a better feel for the guys who can make plays (and those who can't).

Don't count on Big Al playing. He says he's playing but management knows what they have in him and would rather him not play. Other than the fact that I had to pay full price for a preseason game and would want to see him, I would have to agree with them.

Re: Steelers Saturday

This is the perfect game for Portis to sit out. The Steelers blitz so much, it would be good to see how the other RB's pick up the blitzes. If you can handle the Steelers, you will be ready for the Giants' D.

Well, if you are right (which you are usually are, lol) then I don't know how I would feel about this.. Even though it might be good thing, as in getting younger wise.. But nothing can beat experiences, which Collins has..

We will find out soon enough..
