Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread

Another must listen pod by Sheehan and Tom on the report's recommandations that Snyder either be shown the door or suspended.

Quite enjoyable to have some knowledgable and elaborated takes on such a hot takes and "buzzable" topic.

Both Sheehan and Loverro give quite a lot of credit to the report, but still aren't sure there'll be enough to force Dan to sell. There's quite a lot of smoke though, and in this era, the NFL could lose a lot if there were more than we already know and if their sanction was perceived as not severe enough.

I believe the report too.

To be more inclusive, we're gonna take jobs away from women, and give them to guys. That will show how inclusive we are. I just wish that people could see the irony here.

Maybe if the higher ups in the org didn't use the cheerleaders as their personal escort service we wouldn't be in this spot.

There are nine teams that are currently over the cap, which will force major changes.
Another seven teams have fewer than $10 million available under the cap, much of which would be swallowed up by the incoming 2021 draft class.

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread

Just wanted to throw this out there: more than half the league spends 30M+ on Dline, and 7 teams 40M+... so would it be that crazy to think we could retain Allen AND Payne ? (Assuming we'd be ready to let Scherff go and not make a splashy signing at QB, which both seem quite likely right now).

I think we could make it work, especially if we draft a rookie QB that will become a starter.

You could make it work, but the question is would you want to? If you are going to, probably aren't signing a big name WR either. Percent of cap is the meaningful metric, not absolute dollar amount, percent of cap is by definition always inflation adjusted. If we resign Allen this year for $15M, Payne next year for $15M, Sweat year after for $20M, Young year after for $25M, in 2024 that is $75M on DL. Even if we were super optimistic and said cap would be $225M by then, a $45M increase or a 25% increase, then we have a third of our cap allocated to DL not including 4 other DL. There are 6 main position groups, and QB usually consumes more once you resign one, but roughly 16.7% percent for QBs; OL; WRs, RBs, TEs; DL; LBs, CBs/Ss. And lumping WR, RB, TE together is being generous. It would put a lot of strain on rest of team, but you could do it if you had a serious long term plan and rolled lots of money over year to year. Basically, our DL would take the salary of an entire other position group.

As I wrote in a previous post, I prefer keeping both edge rushers and Payne, simply because edge rushers the high leverage position and Payne to me is more talented than Allen. The ideal scenario would be to trade him for a 2nd plus a later pick, but doubt we can.

I would absolutely take Allen over Scherff simply because he is younger and healthier and RG is lowest leverage position on entire team, but even that may not make it viable. I'd rather have two devastating edge rushers, Payne, and plug Io, Settle, or some other similar player in at other DT. You could find someone serviceable but not as good as Allen in 3rd or 4th round or older guy with some gas left on cheap contract.

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread

Not going to post a NFL Gamepass for you guys to click on but the article was one FA pick for every team:
Washington Football Team
Allen Robinson

WR | Age: 27
Washington is in need of a replacement at outside linebacker and must add a corner or two, but with a ton of cap space relative to the projected decreased number, let's go big-game fishing. Robinson is likely either headed for a franchise tag or free agency, and if he hits the open market, he can fetch a healthy offer from Washington, which needs another high-quality receiver to pair with Terry McLaurin for whomever will be taking snaps for the Football Team.

I bet he gets tagged but it would be awesome to get a new offensive toy in the prime of his career.

I like Arob but paying a WR big$$ without a QB is pointless

Income tax free state of Florida. Honestly Id want to play in Florida, Texas, Seattle as well.

Bears have 190M committed to next year already .. thats without Allen Robinson being calculated into anything.

I keep waiting for this tsunami of cut good players due to cap issues ... I hope Im not disappointed.
