We are his revenue stream and without us the Snyder franchise machine does not function. So I would say OUR team is appropriate. Anyone else. Last edited by BrennanBeliever; 10-14-2009 at 12:13 AM. |

Much may have to do with the expanded fan base. There was not as much interest in the Redskins then from the far away places like it is now. By Washington being a transit city it draws people from around the country who take up residence here for various reasons, but not neccessarily Redskin fans. For a longtime to many DC residents the Redskins were an afterthought. Mr. Marshall had alienated the African American community to the extent they would not attend games because of his policies regarding African American players. When Marshall sold the team fan interest increased despite the fact the teams were not good. George Allen did more to energize the fanbase here than any other coach in modern times except Joe Gibbs. Under his guidance the team became a winner again and fans showed their support. I was ten yrs. old when my Father & Uncle took me to my first Redskin game. We would go to Church right across the street from old Griffith Stadium at the "Happy Am I" Church, pastored by Elder "Lightfoot" Soloman Michaux. Season tickets for lower deck seats were $24.00 Beer 10cents a bottle. My Uncle was an Usher at Griffith Stadium when the Homestead Grays played baseball there..........Lot's of memories. |

You're not alone 53, the Joe Gibbs years were the best in the history of this storid franchise. His early reign here was my reason for getting out of bed on Sunday morning.

Part of the beauty of the Redskins fan base is the enduring passion and dedication we exude for a team that over the past decade has underperformed and been consistently less than stellar.
I know that we can find a way to impact this team in a positive manner and bring about the change we all deserve and desire. |

On topic, the only way to 'get your voice heard' is to try to embarass ownership. Either by a mass walk out or by some kind of propaganda (I love the paper plates with the picture of Vinny and the line drawn through it) but good luck getting those into the stadium. Instead of booing the players, I'd love to hear an organized college basketball-like chant of 'FIRE VINNY'.
