Somebody explain to me how the defense is so bad even after adding Norman.were the players we let go that good ? I thought the team was supposed to be improving. who are we missing the most this year. is it the players or is it the scheme. Im not worried about the Offense and special teams but this is a bad defense.

The DL and OLB are very average. When you cannot stop the run or rush the passer, mediocre is the best you can hope for.

The Redskins needed DL help and got none... no help at safety. It is a myth there is good talent on defense, or good coaching.

You beat a team you should have, and you barely did that. Goodbye Joe Barry please.

Strong safety, ilb, and dt/de...these are areas where we are not getting good play or its inconsistent play. Also, 2 younger players who looked good in preseason but haven't shown the expected growth...breeland and Preston smith...a lot of unmet expectations so far this year. We are leaning on these two to perform and it hasn't been good.

Players like wil Compton, Norman, and Chris baker have been good, but they need some help.

Our first two draft picks need to be DL.
But I said that for the last draft and McClue got us zero.
I'm still not that much of a McClue fanboi.

The o-line play was much better today. We finally got the running game going. Long looked good at Center & Arie looked decent for his first time out.

We definitely have to figure out something on D to stop the run. Crowell was gashing us at will.

Yes. Joe Barry should be fired now. Don't wait until the skins are out of playoff contention do it now there has to be someone in house that could do a better job...

We came in to the game strong, and the D and offense finished the game strong. Granted I was ready to turn it off in the middle of that, but we won the game with strong plays on both sides of the ball and good ST.

As for tackling, hopefully it's emphasized more, but lets remember we are already down several defensive starters, and our backups were in the right position to make the plays, and they simply didn't. As much as I dislike the Barry pick, players in position to tackle the runner HAVE to tackle the runner. If they don't then I put that on the player first and GM second. The coach's job is to get the players in the best position to make plays. When we have +80 yards of opponent's gain coming after initial contact, that is poor player selection and poor play on the field. (imho)

I will say this: as much as I appreciate the grit in grinding out the win, I would really like to see more of a killer instinct when we have a lead (or from the get go). We should have crushed that team. They have 1 good WR (not elite) and a good RB (not elite), a rookie QB, and a porous defense. I think they have a good coach and come looking for a brawl every week. But we ought to have won without it being so close. We cannot seem to go for the throat. Makes me crazy.

When the defense lets a pathetic team like the Browns score 20 every week is going to be a grind.

The O played good but they should have scored 40+ on the Browns. I liked the run/pass balance.

In the end it was a win and that's all that matters. From where they started 2-2 looks pretty good. This team is improving every week and that's the key to success.

Browns scored 20 on Baltimore, 24 against Miami, and 20 on us. Only Philly held them to 10.

There is a whisper in the wind that Cleveland is tanking the season (talk about early rumors!!) and the way Hue Jackson put the ball in a FB's hand for the first time when they were about to take a commanding lead doesn't do anything to dispel that notion!!

I'll take 20 points with this D any week.

True. For this D giving up only 20 is almost like pitching a shut out.

We may be down starters but the starters were not playing very good. To me it's probably an improvement to get in some of the backups.

The only way they stop anyone is turnovers. Can't expect those week in and week out. E

It occurs to me that in terms of points, we have improved each week on both sides of the ball:

Points surrendered: 38-27-27-20
Points scored: 16-23-29-31

Let's hope that trend continues - beating the Ravens 33-17 would be fine with me.

Worried about injuries - we don't have enough depth anywhere for that not to really hamper us.

Re: Redskins 31 Browns 20 post game talk

Saying that we can't win the East makes no sense to me, it all comes down to our division games. We still get the Cowboys and Giants once more each, and we still have the Eagles twice.

Eagles look pretty good but I think it's a matter of time until someone exposes their horizontal passing game, all the screens and short out routes. A team with real corners is going to get up in their face and bring the safeties into the box and dare weak ass Agholor and Dorial Green Beckham to win. The defense is fierce, though.

We had Dallas routed if not for the 3 missed TD passes by Cousins. He's playing better now.

And the battle with the Giants was so close, we forced the turnovers when we needed to. We can beat them again, especially at home.

Don't get down, there's lots of time remaining.
