As for Redskins (or Shanahan?) going after Owens; I really hope that won't be the scenario, only because we have three young WRs that have some potentials.. Signing Owens would only stunt our youngsters' growth.. Beside we would be adding another diva show into the team, right when Portis, alone is more than enough.. Some people are saying that we should sign Kevin Walter or Antonio Bryant, I really believe that we should give our young receivers a chance before we decide to go after FA receivers.. And not to mention we have Cooley and Davis, that we are supposedly planning to utilize together.. By adding more weapons would only complicate things for Shanahan(s).. But once again, Shanahan is an offense genius; maybe he won't be overwhelmed and have any problem utilize all players.. |

He may have, we really don't know. I think if anything it hopefully shows that Shanahan is being allowed to build "his" team" vs. the owner or Allen bringing in a someone they want or someone to fill a roll.

Yes, Allen was at the senior bowl.

It's just a feeling but I think the team steps up and finds a bona fide #1 WR so there's no question about who is going to step up, then hope that the new coaching staff can get any of the three young WR's to step up into that roll. Which if that's the case then getting a WR possibly with a one yr deal would be best and if by next yr none step up then you know you either have to give the WR brought in a new contract for the future or draft a #1 WR. I think the other FA's would want more then a 1 yr deal other then T.O. Then there's the reports that Shanny tried to get T.O. and fell short. Do you think he will let it happen again? Especially if T.O. is a FA with no strings attached other then to sign him. I kinda hope I'm wrong, but I could also see him here taking two DB's which would get Moss, Thomas, Kelly or Mitchell open more often. Again I'd rather see Walter replacing ARE and Bryant replacing Moss with Thomas, Kelly, and Mitchell rounding out the WR corpse. What I'm affraid will happen is we pick up T.O., let ARE go and have Moss, Thomas, Kelly and Mitchell. I don't see us going after Marshall because we would have to give up a high draft pick and Denver is not stupid enough to simply cut him. They will want to get something out of him. |

I think what we have to hope for is McCardell can get his talents across to the young guys and the young guys understand it and apply it. But as I pointed out earlier we have several other offensive coachs that have been WR coachs prior to their current positions so I guess I'm not worrying. |

Re: Coaching Staff update
[QUOTE=CRedskinsRule;660632]Exactly. The whole point of getting the organization right, was that decisions were made by the "appropriate" person. I don't think a GM should make the final call on a position coach. I imagine Shanahan talked to BA and got his opinion, and maybe Snyder's to, but it's Shanahan's call to make. No more, "he's a VC guy, or a DS guy, or a whoever guy" if the coach is on the staff, it's Shanahan's responsibility - for good or bad.

If we decide to release Moss, then I will advocate that we should try to bring Walter in to replace him.. I don't think we should release him though, because he adds the speed to offense, which we already have with Thomas and Mitchell.. And not to mention, Moss could start playing as punt returner and maybe kick off returner? This would give us another reason not to sign Walter.. The upside of bringing Walter in is he's younger than Moss; we would have an opportunity to not have to worry about replacing Moss for next two or three years.. |
