I don't get why fans of this organization want EVERYTHING to be perfect. I'll take 2-3 years of potential deep playoff runs with Rodgers than whatever Fitz can bring.

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
The "proposed offer" I've seen on ESPN was 3 first and Fitz lol GB is not taking Fitz first of all, 2nd of all 3 1's for a 38 YO ? That's a lot

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
He could easily play high level ball for another 3-4 years. I think that's worth the price to be in the Super Bowl conversation for the next few years.

Wilson and Rodgers are being influenced what happened to Brady this year (except that they are not free agents) - pick a team with talent in a winnable division, where you have an easier path to the SB.

I believe Green Bay, much like the Texans, is not going to be bullied. They'll sit Rodgers and start Love and never look back. The media needs something to talk about. You can understand Rodgers' frustration, McCarthy hosing deep playoff runs with his incompetence, the inexcusable secondary issues that lost games, etc. Rodgers has done his part, and then some, and been hosed by coaching and teammates, but GB will probably not win anymore SBs while he is there. You can also see with a young actress wife and his eyes on Jeopardy, an east or west coast venue, a city with more culture, is extremely appealing. You think some wife used to the glamour and culture of LA or NY wants to move to Green Bay? Not a chance. The fact is he signed a contract though, and he isn't bullying his way out any more than Wilson, Watson, etc. The NFL is structured so that the owners hold virtually all the power. As with Watson, they can go after his bonus money and hose him financially, though he might not care about $20-$30M and can certainly afford to eat that shitburger in a way Watson couldn't (especially now with legal fees and settlements from HandjobGate). It is an interesting decision. Suppose Rodgers has 5 years left, ala Brady. Do you trade a 1st and 2nd for 5 years of a surefire HOF QB, probably one of the 10-20 best to ever play the game? You could make compelling arguments both ways. If our FO was willing to give up a 1st and another high pick for Stafford, is 2 #1s for Rodgers ridiculous? I don't know. 38 is really old for any NFL player. With one more good draft and Rodgers, we are a legit deep playoff contender, though we still need some true stars to be a SB contender, besides Chase Young. Even if you hit on a late 1st round pick, and get a true franchise QB, very low odds he is a HOF QB of Rodgers caliber. Interesting decision. I don't think Rodgers whining about Love is resentment of competition, but rather resentment of not doing everything to help him win a few more SBs, and spending those resources on a better supporting cast. All a moot point. Rodgers isn't going anywhere. Green Bay is going to tell him he is under contract and not budge, period. His two choices are to retire or play for GB, and all his whining to the media won't change that. This is especially true if you understand the fanatical culture in GB. You might as well look for a unicorn as talk about trading for Rodgers, unless the offer is so obscene it makes no sense (three #1s plus more). The problem then is Rodgers has none of the supporting cast he wants anyway because the resources expended to get him make this impossible. Rodgers is in a Catch 22. |

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
When Charles Leno (LT) was cut by the Bears last week, I said we should bring him in for a look.
Well, he's visiting us first. Would be a good signing.

Yeah let's build it the right way, whatever that means.

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
It's just insane to me that people would turn their nose up at the chance to get an all time great QB like Rodgers.

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
It’s also insane to listen to people say for months not to trade the farm for a QB and build the right way and then in one second change your mind and want the new shiny toy available. No one’s wrong, we just see it differently.
