I was hearing on one of the radio shows that they believe we are switching from a power blocking scheme to a zone blocking scheme and that the zone blocking scheme fits Wylie a TON better. If so, give him a chance to see what he can do in the scheme. He certainly didn't look that bad playing for KC and Mahommes.

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread

QB: Daniels
RB: Robinson (Ekeler on 3rd downs)
WR: McLaurin
Slot: McCaffery
LT: Lucas
LG: Allegretti
C: Biadasz
RG: Cosmi
RT: Wylie (unless Coleman can swing to RT, but that's a bit of an ask in 1 offseason)
TE: Ertz (I think Sinnot starts by mid-season)
WR: Dotson

The OL still leaves a lot to be desired.

As the roster stands now, giving him a chance is not optional. He's definitely the starter right now and just hope he can play better than 2023, by any means necessary.

There is still plenty of time to pick up an interim LT by trade, salary dump, starters displaced by star rookies, etc. I think something will be done to improve the T situation this year.

Ive done quite a few already. I scroll until i find an OT and repeat for my second pick. Than i go bpa. There is nothing more useless than a mock draft the day after the draft but I cant help myself. Ha.

Agreed. I don’t think LT is as problematic as some are making it out to be. Coleman has the athletic potential to start at LT; and if needed we can get a vet LT this year.

Still think we need to pick up another CB. BSJ, and Forbes aren’t quality starters.

I really like the Coleman pick, and I think he can start at one of the OT positions by 2025. I don't know if him being a 2024 starter is optimal.

But I'd rather have him than not. I love athletic tackles. Trent has ruined any other kind for me.

they already made their decision . . . yes . . . all i am saying is many people here think he was horrible last year, and he was, but if playing in a scheme he doesn't fit and moving back to one he does, well that could make him the player that was turning heads in their Superbowl against a fantastic d-line that could do nothing against him.

The more I hear about Ben Sinnott the more I understand the pick and the value of this type of player.

But will Kingsbury use him in the ways to make him an asset? Not so sure.

Sinnot is going to be fun. I was pumped about that pick. TE was absolutely a need. Ertz is getting older and is rightfully on a 1 year deal. I doubt he's here in 2025. Next year, we will probably be drafting another TE in the later rounds to back-up Sinnot. Also, Bates wasn't drafted by this staff and frankly he hasn't really done anything very exciting to need to keep around.

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread

I can live without a corner or basically any other position needing to be fixed for the next year. Im less worried about winning games in 2024 than I am about our new quarterback coming along and just seeing good football while realizing we have something to continue to build on. BSJ stinks, but he isn’t going to get our quarterback hurt.

Basically at this point praying that Peters, Quinn, Kingsbury, etc do better than the shitshow we saw last year with Sam, and I am extremely confident that they have the ability to do so. I am extremely confident that the playcalling and scheming and JD’s natural ability will help. But at some point you 100 percent need decent Tackles and there isnt a single one on the roster I have confidence in. Colemam maybe but probably not in 2024. Daniels, meh. Lucas, meh. Wylie, huge pile of meh.

Kingsbury has his work cut out for him with that group.

TE: Sinnot (I think he starts from day 1 with Ertz spelling him, I think Ertz was mainly brought in to mentor whichever TE we drafted and to get him up to speed on the playbook
WR: Dotson 70% of the time/McCaffrey 30% of the time

I would argue outside CB is as big of a need as OT. You can scheme to protect poor OTs, bad corners are attacked and life in the NFL is really hard with crappy corners.

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread

ertz was signed in case we whiffed on TE in the draft, I think they both play and how much depends on performance.

OT is still a concern, I hope there's some move there still.

Whiffed on outside CB, but you can't get everything in one year, and it's fine (people had gone through seasons with bad outside CBs before, and I'm not expected a this team to go to the SB or anything).

Could we have done better in the draft? In two years with hindsight, sure, and we did pass up a couple good corners, but rankings don't consider team fit and we don't have the info from the team on why they chose player A over B. We can judge based on wins and performance in a few years though. Until we can see everyone play for a while, it's hard to tell (and there's always freak injuries or bad fit/coaching etc that can happen too).
