I don’t think a 90 day shutdown past April is realistic

The economy is Trumps feather in the hat. He wants it all running again ASAP.

Re: Coronavirus (political)
I don't think Trump is trying to keep the economy shut, instead his issue will more likely be opening it too soon.

Re: Coronavirus (political)
Fauci has said multiple times that if he had his way, he would have human beings not come into contact with each other until August.
Fauci has also said that it is inevitable that there will be a second wave of re-infections in the Fall, while pointing out that a vaccine is still two years away. The only solution that leaves if Fauci/Trump is trying to minimize deaths & infections, is to have all Americans shelter in place for the next two years or so. I realize the financial implications, as well as everything else that comes from people doing suicides, drug overdosing, etc... And i think that's what it comes down to. Most places have only suspended foreclosures, etc. for three months. 3 months is not nearly long enough. At what point does the US Government eliminate the mortgage debt? In six more months from now, there will probably be close to 200 million people unemployed. 100 million foreclosures? Even mortgage companies are only offering forbearance at this point for three or four months. There's no way that the states can continue to pay unemployment for that many people for that long. Virginia right now has the longest order in place - Shelter in place until June 10th. Governor also said just today in the press briefing that the expectation is that they will extend it. So for Virginians, best case scenario is sometime in July / August.

It just seems like the people that are advising Trump may be of the opinion that things have to be shut down for as long as possible...

Re: Coronavirus (political)
I keep wondering if the best case scenario is that while they're making a vaccine, they can come up with something to treat it and make it less lethal. That way, even if it's still going around, not as many causalities. Any word on if there's any research like that going on? Maybe not a cure, but a treatment?
