Also we still may be in play for drafting someone. I think this move just adds another durable guy w/ experience who can be a backup or starter. Obviously he isn't the long term solution. The off season isn't over yet as we will see what happens in the draft. Really not sure why anyone dislikes this move. |

There is Brady and then the rest when it comes to playoff wins. Favre is 6th all time with 13 wins. You make it sound like he was a failure in the postseason. Also my man almost every super bowl winning quarterback ever had a stacked team. Bradshaw, Stauback, Aikman, all three of our super bowl winners, Kurt Warner, Russ, Brady, I mean the list goes on and on. It is pretty rare that a quarterback wins a superbowl without a stacked team. Extremely rare. Eli Manning, Payton Manning, i could just copy and paste the entire list of super bowl winners actually. Alls I'm saying is Fitzpatrick is inconsistent, he's gonna have games where he looks really good, and games where he looks really bad. It's been the trend his entire career.

Re: Fitzmagic Thread
I'm happy with this move.
1. He knows how to win and in his last year possibly, he'll be hungry. 2. Great cost:talent. Value move! 3. Plenty of cap room to build around him. 4. No need to trade up to get a QB. We can still draft one later if we see one we like for the future. 5. As mentioned, it saves us from the likes of Trubisky, Dalton, Mariota, Darnold. There's no "what if we can save this guy's career" angle with Fitz, we know exactly what he is and what we'll get.

Re: Fitzmagic Thread
Who are we even expecting him to mentor? Allen? Heinicke? None of these guys are legit long term options as the starter.
Barring someone unexpectedly slipping to us in the draft I think our QB room is set. |

Re: Fitzmagic Thread
Actually, I think Fitz is kinda the perfect guy for Heinicke to be in a qb room together. Then go out in the draft and bring in a top 2nd or 3rd round qb and thats a solid qb room.

Re: Fitzmagic Thread
I do not want a QB that wants or needs a mentor. You know who needed that? Haskins. Do not want. Sure you like to have a vet that younger guys can learn the ropes from. But that's as far as it goes. At the end of the day it's cut throat competition.
The Mahomes example is a weak one cause he would have been great regardless. Sure he learned from Smith how to go about his business and what not. But what would Smith actually teach him? How to check the ball down 9 out of 10 times? |

Here's what Tua said about him for those worried about his mentoring skills

Re: Fitzmagic Thread
He might play with a chip on his shoulder too. Look out. He's fearless, as opposed to reckless with the football like Haskins.
It's going to be a fun year. https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/s...-felt/2450740/ Though the switch was bound to happen at some point, not many expected it to take place with the team coming off back-to-back blowout wins and riding an unexpected 3-3 record into the bye week. Perhaps no one was more caught off guard by the news than Fitzpatrick himself. "I was shocked by it. It definitely caught me off guard,” Fitzpatrick said Wednesday. “It was a hard thing for me to hear yesterday, just kind of digesting the news. My heart just hurt all day. It was heartbreaking for me." "This profession is interesting in that the guy that fired me -- I basically got fired yesterday and then my day of work today consisted of me in Zoom meetings listening to the guy that fired me, and then [was] locked in a spaced-out room with my replacement for four hours today. So there aren't a whole lot of jobs that are like that," Fitzpatrick said.

Re: Fitzmagic Thread
He can still be a teacher to the young guys, football is like any other job.. You can learn from guys without even asking them Q's

Re: Fitzmagic Thread
One thing's for sure this is going to be a fun ass season. Fitz is going to push the ball down the field and let his guys make plays. No dink and dunk BS. Now let's get another WR and TE and we're ready to cook.
