Personally, I'd rather have Jones, as he has impressed me quite a bit. I'd be happy with him at 19. If we pick at 25 and can get him there, even better! I'm not fixated on any one guy, however. As I said, I don't really have a whole lot of knowledge, and I trust in the guys that WFT have in place to make those decisions.
Yeah, I just like to think about different scenarios. I'm no expert either. I'd prefer Jones too. I think Lawrence, Fields, Wilson, Lance, and Jones will all be gone by 19. We will either need to trade up to get one of those guys, trade down a bit for the 2nd tier guys, or wait till lower rounds and hope one of the 2nd tier guys falls to us.

If any of the top 5 falls to us, it's a no brainer at 19 to swoop one of them up imo.

Out of the top 5 teams picking, Jets, Texans, Bengals, we could find a trade partner there and trade up to get either Wilson or Fields (preferably Wilson). If Wilson is available I would offer this for Wilson 2021 1st and 3rd and next year’s 1st , throw in Collins and if we have to part with either Payne, Matt I. Or Settle, then do it. This is for Wilson only.

I don't want to trade up. Find best player at the space and develop them.

I'm not a fan of trading into the top 5 for anyone, that just always costs too much and there are so many examples of that not working out in favor of the team making the jump. If the QB they love falls into bottom of the 1st round, then fine, maneuver as you must to get him. Not trading D-linemen, or multiple 1st rounders though.

Neither do I, but if you want the elusive franchise QB, Wilson is it.

Im feel the same as you guys. Im no draft expert but Id be happy if Mac Jones/Try Lance drops to us or we use it on BPA. Seems like some good OL and WR prospects might be found in the mid to late 1st.

Id be against trading up unless its reasonable and our FO really believes Zach Wilson is a day 1 franchise QB.

Either way ... I like our choices.

Re: The Too Soon 2021 NFL Draft Thread

For the QB drafting talk, I thought this was interesting. The qb draft position of every starting quarterback in the playoffs this year.

The listing (and my personal opinions next to each)

WFT Alex Smith (1) Comeback Player for life

Browns Baker Mayfield (1) Jury still out

Rams Jared Goff (1) Jury still out

Bears Mitchell Trubuisky (2) Jury still out

Colts Philip Rivers (4) Borderline HOF - probably not

Bills Josh Allen (7) Trajectory: up

Titans Ryan Tannehill (8) Trajectory: up (note - Titans got him for a 4th and a 7th)

Chiefs Mahomes (10) HOF-bound

Steelers Big Ben (11) HOF-bound against my best wishes

Packers Aaron Rodgers (24) HOF-bound

Ravens Lamar Jackson (32) Elite

Saints Drew Brees (32) HOF-bound

Seahawks Russell Wilson (75) HOF-bound

Buccaneers Tom Brady (199) GOAT

My big takeaway? We don't have to pick in the top 10 to get a HOFer. Just have smart football guys in place and trust the process.

Offensive boner draft. I'd be happy with this.

82: R3 P18*OT Brady Christensen - BYU
121: R4 P19*G Ben Cleveland - Georgia
160: R5 P19*TE Charlie Kolar - Iowa State
239: R7 P17*S Christsian Uphoff - Illinois State
241: R7 P19*LB Paddy Fisher - Northwestern

lol Jackson average??

30-7 win/loss record as a starter, pretty elite territory

If you want to break down his game and call him an average passer, fine, but as an overall player you can't argue with the results

That's what I meant, average passer, HELL OF AN ATHLETE. I'm not hating on him

I'm not talking as a passer aspect (because that's the weakest part of his game), but as a complete player he absolutely was worth it. At his best he's a league MVP, at his worst he's above-average thanks to the dual threat (I know dual-threats aren't worth as much as a pure elite pocket passer, but as a player Lamar Jackson is absolutely elite).

Re: The Too Soon 2021 NFL Draft Thread

I'd take both if the price was right. Highly doubt the price is right though, given demand exceeds supply for decent qb's and wr's. Let someone else overpay.

Agree. DeShaun Watson wants out too. I would be all over him. Probably cost a couple of firsts, but I'd do it.
