It was amazing to me during the 2016 Republican primaries that once Marco Rubio short circuited in a debate Trump seemed to become invincible. I kept watching the polls and offshore odds to win the nomination after each major Trump blunder, they seemed to have no effect.

It is a quinnipac poll which tends to skew heavy towarda the rachel maddow crowd. Thats why i like realclearpolitics. They show the full spectrum of polls. And good trendline data.

National polls on Trump and the economy are strikingly positive considering his low positives in the general poll

Here is another striking contrast of long term right direction/wrong direction polling

From the hope of Obama in 2008 to the spikes around various events, the gradual rise of the right direction line over the last 4 years is noticeable, but look at the last 6 months note the dip in October and the noticeable rise in late January, hmm I wonder what happened in October that ended in January.
