Rik, what did we handle wrong? Were we supposed to hold BJ’s wife ransom until he signed? Seriously I understand the disappointment in how things unfolded, but not the criticism of how anything was handled.

Your upset because Peters didn’t just say “aww hell lets just ignore everyone and go get Quinn because he will take the job”. That’s crazy. You have your list and you start at the top. Again to be upset at the results is understandable but to be upset with the process is not.
By your logic you just take the fat chick without trying for the hot chick first? Lol.

I think you are correct about him not being the first choice. I feel that Johnson saying no blindsided them and they had to regroup and find someone else.

Re: Our New Head Coach - Dan Quinn

If you paid attention to people in the know Quinn was being highly praised right from the jump. Perhaps everyone was blinded by the Ben Johnson talk but if you read the tea leaves Quinn was very much in play all along.

Interesting connection here…

@reshmanuel
One thing about Dan Quinn. He was hired in Atlanta by Thomas Dimitroff.

Dimitroff and #Commanders GM Adam Peters spent several years together in New England as scouts

About as mediocre of a hire as you can get.
Settling for a HC is not something I'm happy with.

Will he be better than Rivera, yes.
Is he dependent on coordinators? Yes.
We will be only as good as his OC.

Well I won't hide my disappointment, he was my 3rd choice. But I'm not in a panic as so any fans are. He had HC experience and that counts a lot, he was a few bad play calls from being a Super Bowl winning head coach.

Man, didn't know there were so many people that can read Adam Peters' mind or were in the room when the search group made their decision.

Ruh, this wasn’t talk from this forum everyone involved in any way with the NFL said they wanted BJ. BJ turned us down. I don’t think it is going out on a limb to say we “settled”.

Im not going to judge anything until Quinn has his time BUT i am not going to fool myself into believing this was the play all along.

Dan Quinn in Dallas = NUMBER 1 DEFENSE during his tenure..

This would have been the case with any coach that gets hired. Again, you don't have to be happy that "your guy" didn't get it, but this fake outrage is ridiculous.

This ownership has been tightlipped about what they are thinking and what they were planning to do. Keim has been saying in every single episode of his podcast that Johnson wasn't a done deal, that no one knew for sure whether he was actually the top candidate for this group, and that people outside of the team were saying that he was the favorite.

A lot of people in the NFL put Johnson as the favorite for every team, so are you saying that every team that hired someone else settled for their coach?

Our New Head Coach - Dan Quinn

I had to step away from Reddit because people are in meltdown mode and already calling next season a wash.

I feel like we did put all our eggs in the basket with Johnson and then were screwed when he decided to stay. I’m not thrilled with Quinn but I’m willing to wait to see who our OC and DC are going to be.

Re: Our New Head Coach - Dan Quinn

Since Quinn took over the defense, the Cowboys rank fifth in points per game allowed and first in takeaways (93). This season the Cowboys are one of the best pass defenses in the league, ranking top-10 in yards allowed (fifth), touchdowns (10th), and interceptions (eighth)

For the last 2 years Dallas was fun as hell to watch on defense, high flying , hard hitting and creating TO's.

That has not happened in DC in years...

No we do not have Parsons or Diggs but Quinn will load up on defense in FA I bet.

Remember we have 74M and a ton of high picks.
