Yeah if no CBA is signed I would have to change my early prediction as having you guys as the best team in the division this would be a tough year to swallow.

Also remember the 2007 season won't be so fun as you all think first to become a unrestricted FA you would need to be a 6 year veteran not 4 so that would take a lot of prospect out of the market also teams will have 2 Franchise tags isntead of 1 so that Also takes away players.

Don't believe 2007 will be a high revenue team wet dream, 2008 will have a better taste.

Also I don't think Snyder want's to drop so many players he want's a new CBA because he doesn't want to start over hey it has taken him 10 years (if not more) to get this franchise in form you really believe he want's to start over when he is so close 2 the big event.

What do you see in Brown??? I don't get it????

Not that much, He is just a guy who was able to contribute in the system and has a very low salary. He is expendable, but servicable. Would be about the same as keeping Farris, but would probably lose his job to a draft pick down the road. Notice, I already have us hanging onto most of the core guys.

its either brown or 2 1st year guys. when you're pinching every penny to get up to X number of warm bodies as cheaply as possible, he's probably not in the plan.

DBOYZ, look in the CAP analysis threads for who gets cut. basically if no one restructured, we'd keep 13 guys that'd cost money to ditch an have 34 1st year player and a 47 man roster. brunell alone means we can keep 3 more starters (washington, samuels, jansen) and it looks like many others are going to convert option and base salary (for 2006 and 2007) into signing bonus money (as well as taking actual pay cuts) to keep as many players as possible.

going into 2007 with only 13 good players (+ draftees) really wouldn't give me much hope because of how many holes and depth problems the skins would have. I think everyone realized that (danny offered 1 billion dollar over the next 25 years to help try for a cba to keep this team together). The players all know helping danny out before the whole thing goes crazy is definately in their best interests too.

I wasn't sure what thread this would fold into so mods if you have somewhere else to send it to, feel free..

With the cap at 94.5 million and restructuring happening left and right, is there a conceiveable scenario where we can gain enough cap room to get maybe one WR and a K or DE? I know we won't be able to 'shop' but where do we need to get to cap wise to plug some holes?

I moved it here (obviously). The only free agents we will be able to sign are rookie free agents or young guys willing to accept the veteran minimum.

Wasn't sure which of the CBA/Doomsday threads to put this under, so here goes:

An assumption with any list of players being cut is that they will not restructure in a way that gives back real money. I suggest, and I may well be wrong, that this is not a fair assumption.

Of the list of salary cap cuts how many of these players would expect to make the kind of money that they are entitled to under their current contracts in the upcoming free agency market? We have already seen several (albeit over 30) big name cuts, starters. Given the likely glut of players and paucity of teams able to pay more than minimum, isn't it possible that some of the Skins might be willing to take real cuts to ensure a salary greater than bare minimum? Especially since the salary can be reinflated after this year? If, as I assume he has, Gibbs has recruited and signed "team" guys, isn't it possible they realize that their best bet for both short term and long term personal financial and team success is to find a way to weather 06 with the skins and trust that Snyder's money will be loosed in 07 and beyond?

I honestly don't know which of the players this would affect most, but I wouldn't be surprised if that is in the works right now over at Redskins Park.

Guess will find out tonight!

Sounds like the extension went down in flames. How many big name players are we going to have to cut?

only if we draft them or they're 1st/2nd year guys at vet min... outsisde that i really can't see it. Right now our kicker for 2006 is going to be tyler jones. he wears the #2 jersey and i know nothing else about him.
