Wasn't the $6.5 mill already figured into 2006's cap figures? So if thats the case, and LaVar does give us back $4mill then that should come out to be about $10.5 mill for 2006 cap relief. He is giving us back $4mill and we will not have to pay the $6.5mill bounus either that is already figured into 06"s cap so that is how I am coming up with that number, but I am not very good to understanding the cap thing so hopefully That Guy on here can chime in on this or our friendly neighborhood capologist crazy canada guy can help...

We'd have to know the terms of the deal before we could analyze the cap ramifications. Well see.

Right I agree that is why I am asking because I don't know I am just saying how I currently see it, but by no means do I think that I am anywhere close to being right...

if we follow through with the deal tommorrow with a chance of the cba getting signed and only get 4 million from lavar this will be the worst move I have ever seen. wait till the ****ing CBA is done. if it gets done the cap will be high enough that we won't need to do this now and we can save an extra 2.5 million in june. We could even sign players assuming we would get that 2.5 million and go over the cap as long as we get back down. now if the CBA doesn't get signed this makes sense

I still like Lavar and hope he comes to the Texans so I can see him play often.Dallas is not an option after what he did to Troy. The fans would never accept him.

How far lavar has fallen. this was the 4th thing on the NFL page on ESPN. Two years ago it would have been the first thing on the home page of ESPN

LaVar Arrington will become a free agent after agreeing Sunday night to pay the Washington Redskins over $4 million in cash to get out of his contract with the team. As part of the deal, the Redskins have placed Arrington on waivers.

A team source said that the move would have been made irrespective of any delay in the waiver deadline Sunday evening.

Over the last few days, the Redskins have asked several veterans to restructure their contracts so that the team could get under the salary cap. Arrington was the only Redskins player who refused to rework his deal, The Associated Press reported.

Arrington had a $12.045 million cap number and was due a $6.5 million roster bonus. By taking the money, the Redskins will save approximately $4.2 million with his release. They entered Sunday $17.7 million over the salary cap.

In January, the NFL Players Association filed a formal complaint seeking disciplinary action against Carl Poston, Arrington's agent, for "neglect" in negotiating Arrington's contract near the end of the 2003 season, union and league sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen. The "neglect" had to do with Arrington's $6.5 million bonus.

Arrington did not see much playing time early in the 2005 season as he worked his way back from offseason knee surgery. The former Penn State standout became disgruntled over his diminished role, though it is unclear whether those feelings have played a part in the current negotiations. The three-time Pro Bowl linebacker regained his starting job against Philadelphia on Nov. 6.

Arrington played in 11 regular season games for Washington in 2005, recording 47 tackles. He also played in the team's two postseason games, and had 12 tackles.

The AP reported that Arrington would have counted 12 million against the Redskins cap that included a 6.5 million roster bones. So him giving back 4 million what is that do? Where dose it make us stand in our cap and what savings is Arrington give us??? I now see from the post above the savings but just that little so now we are still 13.5 over the cap?

I'm not sure that ESPN's/AP's numbers takes into account all of the restructured deals. Most of them haven't been made public. I think we'll need to wait a little longer to figure out the details. Until then, we'll just be guessing. But, keep guessing, I'm going to be.
