For what it's worth I have been riding in D.C./NoVA traffic daily for 10 years without an even close call (knock on wood). In that same time, I have been in two accidents in cages (both due to other driver hitting me). What does that mean...nothing, just that perception is not always reality. If they didn't look/see my big ass car then what I am driving/riding is irrelevant. People generally don't look, so I ride like I am invisible to all around me.

From my viewpoint, it means that you were lucky. You were lucky because if you were riding your motorcycle during the accidents, you could have been injured or injured more seriously.

Would you agree that you can be hurt more in an accident when you are riding a motorcycle versus driving a car ?

To me, it's not about the chances of getting into an accident with a car or motorcycle (that's debatable, or maybe not with stats).

It's about which vehicle would be considered to be inherently safer in an accident: car or motorcycle ? ... in other words, which would you choose to be an accident in: car or motorcycle ?

Among the injuries being reported broken jaw, gashes to forehead, lacerations to the back of the head, and an injury (not serious) to the knee. Probably about a 7 week recovery period

7 Weeks? IF what is being what is being reported is accurate, there is no way he plays this year.

NFL QBs only have so many shots to the head they can take. This may have used up all he has.

I agree, that sounds a lot worse than what they were saying eariler today.

I pray that he will be OK. I found out 20 minutes ago when my steeler friend called and was horrified. I slept till 4 and sadly missed the world cup. He should have been wearing a helmet. He is a dumbass. His knees still may have been injured but it is clear other injuries would have been far less serious, broken jaw, 9 inch cut, loss of a lot of teeth. I think he will live and that is the important thing. Lets hope he has a full recovery

Didn't he already have some kind of knee problems? Regardless, the knee injuries will probably prove to be much more problematic than anything else.

9 inch laceration in the back of the head? That sounds like a pretty big gash...ah, who needs a helmet. I wonder how he'll manage to wear a football helmet in 7 weeks and comfortably take hits where his head hits hits grass.

p.s. This (http://espn-att.starwave.com/photo/2006/0612/nfl_a_roethlisbergerbike_275.jpg) sure has hell doesn't look like a Harley/Chopper/Cruiser. I wonder what it is.
