I'm telling you. And that Worth Mayhem I posted is supposed to be just as good, if not better. Behold the power of technology. Allowing any fat ass to add additional distance and power to their hits instantly.

Even with the restricted flight balls, we were all crushing it. 724Skinsfan 07-28-2006, 10:55 AM BDB & TMC, would you describe yourselves as punch-hitters (wrist are basically locked) or roll-hitters (wrists will roll-over the ball during contact)? TheMalcolmConnection 07-28-2006, 10:59 AM Roll hitters. See, I don't know any of this terminology. I just swing like I did when I used to play baseball. 724Skinsfan 07-28-2006, 11:13 AM Okay, in order to be an effective baseball hitter you pretty much have to roll the wrists through swing. A lot of people switch to punch hitting in softball because if your bigger you can generate more power but typically you pull the ball with little control. A roll hitter generally hits up the middle and relies on the snap of the wrist to increase force. For smaller guys like me (5'8", 170 lbs) the increased speed gives you more pop. I'm the smallest guy on the team and I hit the ball farther (4 or 5 HR's a season) than everyone on the team. Inside the park HR's - at least once a game. I don't count inside-the-park HR's as an actual homerun because it almost always involves an error somewhere during the relay to homeplate. TheMalcolmConnection 07-28-2006, 11:14 AM I count them because I tend to place them where the outfielders have holes. A lot of times I'll pull it to right. Right down the right field line and they typically have their slowest, shittiest player out there. 724Skinsfan 07-28-2006, 11:19 AM HAHA! Some players in our league are considered holes. TheMalcolmConnection 07-28-2006, 11:35 AM Reminds me of last night when right in the middle of an inning, this kid got pulled! Hilarious. BDBohnzie 07-28-2006, 11:35 AM my mechanics mostly come from baseball, so I'm a roll hitter. I'll hit around 20 HRs in a season, spread across about 60 games. Mostly, I try to hit gappers and oppo on the right pitch. www.swingmechanics.com is a great resource for swing tips, and he has 2 DVDs that many people swear by. the guy who owns the site is a baller from Georgia, who is not much bigger than you 724 and hits the ball a ton. but he's got a ton of tips and tricks right on his website. that's where i got my grip from (pinky drop). and with anything you try differently, the only way to perfect it is BP. lots of BP. |
