Schneed10 08-17-2006, 11:33 AM Cool thread. The Schneed has touched the lives of:
Diane Sawyer, Scott Rolen, Miss America 2001 (Angela Perez) (http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en/0/0a/Angelabaraquio.jpg), Mike Schmidt, Pat McGee (of the Pat McGee Band), all three members of the band Guster, M. Night Shyamalan, and Bruce Willis.
I met Diane Sawyer at a taping of Good Morning America in 2001, I'm not even kidding, she is a GMILF (grandmom). Bruce Willis was the coolest meet. During the shooting of Unbreakable (here in Philly) my wife's cousin worked on the set as part of the stage crew, and he's a giant giant dude. Bruce Willis saw him at the refreshments table and challenged him to a donut eating contest. My wife's cousin destroyed him.

The robot's name is Kevin, just so you know.
I've also met various Redskins here and there. While at Art Monk's camp years ago he stopped in our room to ask us to be friends with some kid from our hometown who's roommate kept beating him up. That was interesting.
Schneed10 08-17-2006, 11:42 AM Oh and how can I forget Katie Holmes. During 2000 they shot an episode of Dawson's Creek at my school, University of Richmond. I had forgotten about it, so I wake up early one day before class, and I'm walking down the path to the commons to get a bite to eat, and walking right past me goes Katie Holmes, she looked like she belonged right with all the other girls at Richmond, just blended right in. No entourage, no bodyguards, just her all by herself. I looked up and caught her eye and she said hi. I just kind of said hi back, not really realizing it was her until after I did a double take. When I did that she kind of chuckled.
She is really really tall. I had no idea. She's like 5'10". And cute as can be in person.

Nice!
Schneed10 08-17-2006, 11:45 AM I originally posted this in the College Stories thread, so it may be a repeat read for a lot of you. But Shawn Barber went to Richmond while I was there, he was a senior when I was a freshman. GREAT guy, hung out with him on a couple occasions doing some drinking. Anyway here it is:
I never saw the college story thread. I gotta get in on this. Here's one of my favorites.
I went to the University of Richmond and graduated in 2001. So I was a freshman for the 1997-1998 school year, and of course being a young impressionable frosh, I was looking to find the best party I could. One night I ended up at a fraternity party for the frat I ended up joining one year later. There was beer pong. There was Asshole. And there was caps. I played them all, and I was merry. So it's about 1:00 am and the party is just starting to get good... which is exactly when you're supposed to take the party to the next level.
My roommate and I ran back to our dorm room to grab his potato cannon which he made out of PVC pipe and rubber cement. We grabbed a box of clementines at the store that week, you know the little mini oranges that come in a big crate in the produce section. So we hauled the potato cannon and the clementines back towards the party.
The house which held the party backed up to the school's Intramural Fields, a perfect place to unleash hell. So we gathered some friends, set up camp and began firing clementines into the air. The sound of the cannon brought none other than UR senior Shawn Barber out of his house nearby, and he was immediately intrigued by our arsenal. He watched as my roomate fired clementines into the air as the rest of us tried to run under them and catch them on the other side of the field.
Then Shawn Barber looked at my 5'9", 220 pound friend who was not fleet of foot, and most certainly not graceful, and said something I'll never forget. "Damn! That's the worst thing I ever saw! Boy, you should not be running. Do us all a favor and never run again. Shit, I gotta go wash my eyes out."
True story. I was pretty ecstatic when the Skins drafted him.
Schneed10 08-17-2006, 11:53 AM Nice!
Yeah that was back before she was the huge star she is today, all married to Tom Cruise and crap. Nobody really swarmed her at school, pretty much let her be. But Joshua Jackson and James Vanderbeek (Pacey and Dawson) got absolutely mobbed by the freshmen girls. I didn't meet Dawson, just saw him from afar, definitely looked gangly and goofy. Thinking back on it, all I can think of is "I don't want, your life."

12thMan 08-17-2006, 11:58 AM Schneed, you're tempting me to tell my Mike Tyson story:)

Definitely tell it! Meeting celebrities is always cooler when there's a story to go with it! Hopefully it didn't involve rape or bloody ears?
TheMalcolmConnection 08-17-2006, 12:11 PM In some cases, it involves both.
