Pocket$ $traight 08-24-2006, 01:32 AM ohh and to the 1 saying it's only preseason MAN I Know.... we all know teams don't show their playbook only "vanilla" plays as they call it.
During preseason I don't care if the team wins or loses. I look for the first team offense to move the chains in the few drives they play, QB look comfortable and in sink with wr, look for the protection of the line and see if they can open holes, if the wr are getting separation.
In case of the D even if they don't blitz a lot try to see the coverage, speed and control on the line.
But specially I try to see the younger guys see if anyone shows something that can contribute to the season more than just practice squad, and if there seems to be any problems get to them before the season starts.
That's why asked you guys about your team
You can ask about us all day. That catch against McKenzie won't happen against the Grim Reaper. If T.O. doesn't show up, you guys are done.

That was me. I agree with your assessment. Obviously, from reading the posts by Redskin fans after last week's preseason game, we are all concerned...a little, but it really is about evaluating young talent and getting back into "football shape". See you in week two. Always welcome here for discussion, D'boyz.
D'BOYZ 08-24-2006, 01:33 AM There's a Parcells-TO joke here. I just know there is. Let me ask you a question. Seems like Marion Barber is getting a lot of carries in the red zone this preseason. Is that to keep JJ fresh? Are they going to platoon them? Or is the first step toward phasing Jones out of there? I think that's your big X factor this year, the running game.
Why JJ has more burst, elusivness and speed, Marion has more toughness and can get the tougher yards that's why they are starting to use him in goaline and short yard situation.
Marion has improve a lot since last year and it's really pushing JJ for playing time but JJ it's still the starter I believe that they will share the carries but if JJ starts getting games like Carolina ans Seattle last year the amount off carries in that game would change

JJ scares me more than Barber. He hits the hole hard and runs downhill. Hate to admit it, but he's a stud runner who has gotten better every year. I think our D Line can contain him due to the fact that your O Line isn't what it used to be.
SmootSmack 08-24-2006, 01:44 AM It could just be Parcells mind tricks, but I've heard some rumors that he ain't so crazy about Jones. Doesn't think he's tough enough.
D'BOYZ 08-24-2006, 01:54 AM It's this from the same reliable sources that say that Romo will be starting ahead of Bledsoe because of a preaseson game, or that TO is faking his injury or the same media that it's making a big fuzz of TO hamstring but you don't hear a nothing about S.Smith and Ward's Hamstring and why they aren't playing also.

Different sources.
When Smith or Ward calls one of his QBs gay, refuses to report to a team he is traded to, criticizes the team he then asked to be traded to, calls out that team's QB and says someone else would be better there at QB, when they do all those things then maybe a bigger deal will be made out of them missing time.

Sum it up TO sell's newspapers S.Smith, Ward doesn't
and because of that there are more rumors and stories in dallas then normal specially in a slow TO Day.
RobH4413 08-24-2006, 06:20 AM A more accurate sum up.
T.O. is cancer. Dallas is infected. As much as the media is reporting it, it doesn't change the legitimacy of it.
He's an amazing athlete, an amazing receiver, and an apocalyptic teammate.
For the Record, Sean Taylor made Owens his bitch before, don't expect anything different this year. Sean is a head hunter. He's a thug. Whether or not they admit it, recievers think about him every second they're on the field. Footsteps are heard from a mile away. Godspeed T.O.

There's nothing studly about Julius "Mangina" Jones. Let's see him prove something beyond this season and then we'll talk.
